That doesn't sound right though - just googled premier league pitch sizes and found this site

https://www.openplay.co.uk/blog/premiership-football-pitch-sizes-2014-to-2015

Says Etihad is 116 x 78 and ours is 110 x 70 - so Etihad is EIGHT YARDS WIDER than the Lane?? Wow...

Either way, if the standard they are after is 105 x 68, that's going to mean a ten yard bigger gap from the edges of the stands at the Etihad.

First one to get back here with the distance West Ham fans will be from the touchline if the pitch width is reduced to 68m gets an internet cookie :D

68m is 74 yards.

SEAT SALES AND STADIUM ITEMS
Season Ticket Holders will receive an email next week about the opportunity to purchase their very own seat from the Lane and we have organised the donation of a number of other items from within the stadium to local sports clubs and community causes.

Very little chat on the internet news sites yet. Not caught up with it?

I don't understand why people are still worrying about our football at Wembley. We played very well against Chelsea and barring the silly mistakes would have won. The only poor performances were in the European games earlier on. I think we'll be fine, just a tad worried about our opponents upping their game because they're playing on the hallowed turf.

It stopped being hallowed a few years ago.

A lot of it stopped being turf as well.

I don't know what the mixture of natural and artificial grass is but it differs at many grounds, and apparently can affect the speed that the ball moves. So too can the length of the "turf". I believe the maximum length is 30mm and Wembley's is kept longer than most, which again slows things down.

I don't know to what extent the club can affect these things, or whether it's just a matter of getting used to it. Considering how seriously pitch management is now taken, I hope they can change things a bit to suit our style of play.

Yes would be very interesting to know if we can influence the turf and if our own staff can look after it etc

That's another issue then.

Do you know whether our groundsmen will be allowed to maintain the grass, or at least ask for it to be cut a bit shorter like at WHL?
Only know that from BBC sport last weekend before the spurs match haha, I have no other knowledge I'm afraid!

Fuck my life, are people really questioning the grass? At Wembley?

Wembley grass is regarded as the best in the world FFS. Our groundsmen will learn a thing or 2 next season.

It's had massive problems over the years. At one point having to be changed every 4 months.

This would be Darren Baldwin Institute of Groundsmanship's (IOG) Professional Football Groundsman of the Year for 2013 that will learn a thing or two? I suspect the Wembley groundspeople will be the ones learning a thing or two.

I'm going to stay positive re Wembley. We played well vs Chelsea and at 2-3 still was in the game . The Matic strike was sensational and sunk us. Monaco look as though they will win Ligue 1 for the first time since 2000. They have some amazing players, are in the CL semis, and with a real chance of winning the CL ? So losing to those two, while disappointing, is no disgrace. Maybe losing to Leverkusen was disappointing but we were without Rose, Kane and Alderwereild , so not our strongest 11.

The mental strength of the team is growing all the time. I think we will be just fine at Wembley.
