I stumbled into a bit of stadium ITK this afternoon. It turns out that the boyfriend of a young woman I know (works at my gym) is the Stadium Production Manager. His responsibility is the video that goes up on the screens, the corresponding productions on backstage screens, shows at half time, that kind of thing.
She was telling me that he's been doing his nut a bit because he has had to adapt his product for the conflicting requirements (mainly software I guess) of three different stadia: Wembley, MK and the THS. He's run off his feet trying to catch up.
The bit that will interest people here is that the more senior staff are very clear about when the stadium is going to open. They all know, but they've been forbidden from saying anything, because the club set a timetable once which didn't pan out, so they're not going to release another until they are 100% sure they can deliver it. She wasn't giving anything away in terms of dates or matches, to the extent that I don't know if she knew and wasn't telling or had been stonewalled by the boyfriend.
The other thing that arose, although not in as many words, is that everything was on target for the 15 September opening until the fire alarm fiasco emerged. That's been the problem, not a cover for the overall build being months behind. It took the whole team by surprise and capsized everything.
Finally, ITK I can have faith in. Halleyuyia.
