Turf has been an issue for some time and the players are fed up and want the NFL to make grass mandatory.

Injuries suck but they can happen anywhere.

Not sure if this was better to go in this thread or the NFL one but thought it was worth sharing - sour grapes or legitimate point?

The artificial turf NFL debate has been going on for ages , a quick internet search brings up a load of stories so it's not just a Spurs stadium problem.
Different sport I know but a rugby report in UK on artificial turf v natural grass injuries shows no difference.

"Milano suffered a knee injury in a pile-up and Jones a pectoral."

Sounds like shit stirring as neither of those injuries are pitch related...

Ah ok thanks, I wasn't aware.

I just read the article and it seemed pretty personal towards our stadium so I wasn't sure

Historically, early artificial surfaces were disastrous for US football players. That's improved measureably with newer technology, but I think there tends to be a knee jerk reaction whenever you have a string of injuries, or a really bad one, and it gets more attention on it. The Chris Basham injury, being non-contact, would have caused an outroar had it occurred on an artificial surface; instead, it just got highly justified pity. So you definitely need a bit of a filter when this kind of criticism comes out.

That being said, aesthetically I just hate artificial surfaces. I miss the mudfests we had in American football up until the late '70s.
