I think it's good another club hopefully taking a few points off City etc, another club picking up a few good players so they don't get horded away at City or at Chelsea on loan somewhere.

I think it will eventually even out the league a bit

Everyone says this is a good thing now just because it's little old Newcastle and they're not an immediate threat, let's see if you're keeping the same energy in 5 years when they start paying big wages and are competing for our players, it's anything but good for the league, since when is oil money a good thing?

It’s not like it’s a straight choice between CL without financial doping, or CL with it. For Newcastle the choice is between perpetual mediocrity under Ashley, or the hope that maybe their club will be the next Man City under the new ownership.

No real fan under would plump for honest mediocrity on those terms.

Right but it's also not a straight choice between Ashley and the financial doping. Obviously they all want Ashley gone, but if I were a Newcastle fan I'd want Ashley to sell, just not to some dodgy Arab dictator. I'd want to be bought out by someone who was going to take the club forward rather than just milk it like Ashley, but not someone who was just going to turn us into a plastic husk of a club playing on cheat mode every year like City do now.

But they don't have a choice in that either. If you were a Newcastle fan, your primary hope would be for to Ashley to sell the club ASAP after years of underinvestment and mis-management. Beyond that, it's the luck of the draw in terms of whether they get owners who want organic growth, or those who are going to go out and buy it. After years of waiting for Ashley for leave, you can't expect fans to be dissatisfied because the new owners are threatening to show the type of ambition they've dreamt of for years.

Right but you're presenting it like either they take this deal or they're just going to have to make do with Ashley forever. I can understand your point about them just being desperate for anything else, but in the cold light of day I wouldn't want to become "the new Man City" if I were in that situation. As tempting as it obviously is at first glance, it would just be the beginning of the end of the club for me. Others might see it differently.

How can the FA be so naive, do they honestly deep down not think that the Sheikh Mansour won’t be the guy running the club in the background? I mean all their money comes from the same source.

Any transfers between the 2 clubs will be for alternative reasons. What would stop City transferring their youth players to Newcastle? For example Sancho last season could have moved to Newcastle allowing him first team football while still keeping him as an asset long term.

Maybe for you, but for Newcastle fans who have stayed with the club through relegation, mediocrity, Dennis Wise as DoF, and their stadium being rebranded to promote the tackiest sportswear store known to man, why would you suddenly draw the line at oil wealth?

At least with the new owners they might have something to get excited about on the pitch, which is the point of football after all.

Chelsea/United/Arsenal were miles ahead of us now is there really much between us? Maybe arguable that City have taken players otherwise would have ended up at those clubs. Liverpool were only one point ahead in the end. Despite the 'oil money' and 'gas' money we have still built a competitive side now in Champions League final, and a new stadium.

City also took plenty of players we’d have been in for. If the likes of them and Chelsea had not been around we’d have broken into the top four long before we did. We weren’t far away when Jol was in charge.

Any new cheat code club will just weaken our position. We can’t compete financially with City, and we couldn’t compete with Chelsea either of Ambramovich hadn’t lost interest. The league won’t be “levelled out” by yet another club having more resources than 90% of the others.

Personally don't see it like that, maybe one or two added to the fold will level out the top one or two. Its not going to stop anyway, so might as well get use to it

Was annoyed when I first heard, the more I think about it the less bothered I am. That’ll be 7 clubs instead of six. ( if they get 100s of millions). There’s only so many players at the top level so it would more than likely just dilute City and Chelsea’s options. What next, Leeds, Villa, Everton ( they sort of have already) and West Ham? it doesn’t matter anymore . Chelsea had their money when it made the biggest difference, they literally bought trophies, City the same but anymore and it doesn’t matter.
Anyway this time next week we’ll be Champions of Europe.

I agree with your argument, however the knock on effect will impact everyone. All it does is drive up the process of players.

Yes there are finite world class players. However once they have been taken it moves to the next level players.

Players like Grealish will all of a sudden become 80/90m players.

It is not a great situation but unfortunately it is the game today.

This is my main issue with it. Suddenly midtable clubs that are fairly run won't be able to buy mid-tier players because they are massively overpriced.

A good example of this issue is Mahrez. By rights he could be the star player for any team in the league. Instead he sits on the star studded bench at City.
