Without getting in to the morals(or lack thereof) behind Saudi Arabia/Qatar/Abu Dhabi etc, it feels an awful lot like we're running out of prospective buyers doesnt it? Who on earth is going to stump up the money Levy/Lewis will want and then invest in the squad etc?

Nobody. And that's fine. I'd rather have a football club than a dirty money plaything.

Watching something the other week and John Hall (the Newcastle chairman who brought Keegan in in the 90s and stayed on until selling out to Ashley) was talking about the effect of Abramovich arriving at Chelsea. Overnight he knew Newcastle could forget about competing in this new world. Every player they wanted doubled in price, wage demands doubled and trebled. He sold his 40% stake in the club to Ashley for £55m a couple of years later.

Now, if they want to, Newcastle will be able to do the same as Chelsea did. But in my mind, same as with City, there'll be an asterisk next to anything they win. Couldn't get there on their own merits. Sold out to a disgusting, criminal regime.

Sidenote: The Prem League history thing on BBC at the moment covered Man United supporters blocking Murdoch taking over the club in the late 90s. Because they didn't want Sky and they didn't want Murdoch running their club. It's to Newcastle's shame that literally no one has protested against this. In fact they're dancing in the streets.

If you can buy any player or manager in the world. You don't get Pochettino, you don't buy Harry Kane and you don't buy Lloris.
IF.
They certainly can afford any player in the world, but any player going there now will be seen as morally bankrupt, of low ambition, and a greedy bastard. Remember manc found it difficult to attract the stars at first under frank sinatra.

They need a big name charismatic manager who can attract star players, perhaps past their peak. They need to put the club on the map as a desirable destination. That's phase 1.

The england and french captains are available in the summer if not earlier. Poch would be key in getting them over the line. Plus of course he has managed the crown jewels of players, (including winks) so even the hint of one of those coming later on would be a big plus.

Nobody earns the amount of money needed to buy a PL cup through legitimate means. There are no "good" people amongst the mega wealthy.

Complaining about Newcastle owners is pointless imo. The system that has been in place for the last 20 years has allowed the current state football finds itself in.

Not just this country, FIFA and UEFA are absolute jokes, corrupt to the core. Every club is seemingly so close to the edge, Barca in turmoil, Inter win the league then nearly go bust. Football has already lost its soul.

(sorry for the rant).

It would certainly be funny, but it would only be temporary.
It would certainly put to the test the old chestnut that 'players only want to play for CL clubs'. I think we'll hear a lot about the 'I want to be part of this project' or 'Newcastle have always been one of the biggest clubs in the world and I'm glad to be here' or 'I always used to watch them as a boy and dream about playing for them one day'.

'oh, and the wonga'.

Even if this was true I can separate some shady business practices from murdering people that are critical of you.

You're entirely missing the point. This isn't about Spurs, it's about murderers and rogue regimes taking control of the entire sport.

What the Newcastle fans think or how they will feel if they start winning doesn't factor in.

That's exactly right. The Newcastle fans will be exactly like the Chelsea fans who don't give a shit that the guy who owns and finances the club does so with dirty money.

I don't know if we'd be the same, but one day, I'd like to find our for myself. All we need is for someone to step forward with a spare £3 billion and we could be saying hello to a whole brave new world!

:)

The only way we'll attract that kind of buyer is if we totally implode and finsh bottom half and our value drop considerably. They buy on the 'cheap', failing clubs.

Mate who's a stockbroker has been courting PIF's head equity trader for business but his compliance officer denied it saying PIF is a who's who of 'politically exposed persons and terrorists'.

Thing is in this case though, it's not just a bloke with billions, it's a royal prince funded by the state. It's utterly ridiculous. This is up there with WWE doing the Saudi shows just because of the money.

The problem is (i think anyway), eventually most of the Prem clubs will be funded like this and it won't be an advantage anymore. We'll need that sort of investment just to keep in the game.

Will be ironic to see the richest football club in the world playing in the 2nd division next season.

The way all these Newcastle fans are going on about how they deserve this after years of bad ownership you'd have thought they were Bury or Macclesfield.
