I wouldn't put Newcastle in the top-4 just yet.

Its one thing to have a lot of money to spend, its quite another to entice players to come play and live there...

They will have absolutely no issues attracting players there. Pay anyone enough and they'll go anywhere. It's not much more than a 100 miles from Manchester and those club's do okay persuading players to join.

My unpopular opinion is that the Super League idea would've worked if it hadn't been framed as a closed shop.

But even so I'd rather we'd stay away.

Yep. That was a major faux pas. I suspect if they have framed it as the clubs getting away from the evils of UEFA it would have gone down better. They didn't need to keep it a closed shop either. That was just stupid and made them out look like a group of scared, weak and greedy people.

It isn't over yet though is it. I know all the clubs have said they'd leave but I don't think they 100% officially have. On the back of this I really wouldn't see it being reassessed. Make no mistake about it, this isn't just a problem for the PL. Madrid, Barcelona and Munich really don't want another financially doped club taking their European competition money and especially one also collecting the PL TV money on top. It will scare the shit out of them.

Posters on Bluemoon don't seem to be bothered about the threat of Newcastle. Apparently it will take ages to catch them up because of FFP. Apparently they've had to toe the ffp line, and so will Newcastle.

Just an example:

Raiola: "So Erling, do you want to collect your £50 million signing on fee and £500k a week and live in London, Manchester, Paris or Newcastle?"

I wonder out of the four which will be his last pick...

For £500k a week I'd go Newcastle. You'll be the biggest name in the city and not overshadowed by rivals or other big names at the club (yet). Plus he might have wanted to go there if he watched Goal..

For one or two players that will be an issue. I mean Haaland has gone from Norway, Austria and now in Dortmund (plenty of coal mines there in the past), Newcastle wouldn't be too much of a push. Money and the prospect of winning will be the main motivation for most and Newcastle will have the money and the winning will have every chance of following.

I am not sure Manchester as a city has any kind of draw and it's not stopped the Manchester clubs.

I thought the FA's test was "do you have lots of money ?" if they answer yes (no proof required) they have passed the test. That they kill their own people , oppress women and gay people, is quite OK apparently.
Yep. If i was a woman player at PL clubs, i’d be up in arms & do precisely what is going on in America where the league is this close to going bust over not giving a shit about the safety of its players. Apparently the PL doesnt so much as care about women as they claim to.
Wonderful times for Newcastle fans, but what could the PL do? They want this to be a richer league, and now with the additions of the Saudis it is. Just another entity trying to launder their cash/imagine in the UK, just another UK asset in the hands of a foreign investor.
I can see the like of Liverpool, Arsenal & ourselves being concerned at another Club with endless cash.
I am sure the likes of plastic SSN will be loving this morning.
What could the PL do? Give a shit about human rights. That’s what.

If you're interested in that kind of thing then you should follow a non league club. I have started to go and watch Gateshead FC up here in the north east. The football isn't obviously of a premier League standard (but is actually pretty decent) and you do feel involved. I could join the membership club for ten pound a month and actually have a stake in the club and get to vote on certain issues. There are plenty of non league clubs all over the country.

Cheers buddy

Yeah, I was actually thinking about doing this in the near future (y)

Look how long it took City to get there. We were the ones that kept them out the CL.

I don’t see Newcastle being able to put together a squad that could compete with City/Chelsea/Pool. Plus a lot of teams now have more money in the Prem than they did back when Chelsea and City were throwing around money.

It should get them into a position of being able to look forward to a season and not looking at that 40 point mark for safety.

I’d happily sell them a few players though….

Doesn't matter if the money is crazy good along with a chance of success.
They attracted big players during the height of the Keegan era

And Manchester isn't exactly Malibu but look at them

Besides MTV have laid the foundations for Newcastle's global position as the clubbing capital of the world...

Maybe they might want to buy Kane for £300M as their superstar signing, so that Kane can break Shearer's prem league goal record there? I'd be happy if we relieved them of lots of money for this deal!

So if the axiom of money equals success is true, who out of City, Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea are going to be knocked out of the Top 4, to make way for Newcastle?

Might take a few years, but one of them will have to go.

Looks like Liverpool tbh.

Liverpool will be sold soon enough. FSG aren’t idiots they will realise it’s a peak time to sell. West Ham soon as well. Sadly Levy will hang in to the bitter end.

I think location is an issue tbh. If a London club are offering same terms most will choose London. Probably see them become established top Half pretty quick. But I reckon talking 3 or 4 years before a real top 4 force as long as some kind of FFP adhered to.

I feel like I'm increasing believing that we have to have similar fortune to be where we want to be. We can all preach about doing things 'the organic way' but I think we'll continue to have nothing to show for it, especially as I don't think we even do things as well as we should do as we are now anyway. We'll continue to be strict on wages and won't push the boat out when it comes to incomings and our standings will continue to reflect that.
