Does anyone think this will make Levy & Co sit up and think 'shit we better act now and spend some serious cash on players before Newcastle kick on and over take us'? No...me neither!

No, if I were in Levy’s position I’d be thinking, “what’s the point in investing when we are just going to get blown out of the water anyway.“

We can’t compete with this kind of financial and political power, Man City won’t even be able to match them.

Fair competition is dead now. We may as well pack up and not bother anymore.

The 'back where we belong' quotes make me want to vomit!
It's true, though. Most people don't realise that Newcastle has always been a global epicentre of human rights violations - just drink the beer and you'll see.

EDIT: That flippancy makes me sound like I'm downplaying what is in actuality a catastrophic day for football generally. I'm really not, but I couldn't resist the joke. Call it gallows humour.

EDIT EDIT: Not just football - human rights too.

Wonder as they can’t buy anyone until January whether their current crop of players will have some sort of mega bonus added to their contract if they manage to stay up.

Surely every other team will be desperate to beat them now and relegate them just for the bantz. Really take the opportunity to steal their lime light.

I wonder if they'll appoint Conte before our game. I guess Bruce won't be there for long anyway

If the other 19 clubs refused to play them would they be awarded the league title? OK maybe 18 clubs as City can't really say anything.

The hypocrisy stinks.

This is a league full of social justice good causes, they insist on starting every game by taking a knew for equality and yet we now have a dirty Russian ogliarch who funded putin and stole masses of wealth, a state funded club owned by an oppressive regime totally accepted and now this which is similar but worse if you look at the human rights

At what point is enough and enough? Why would I listen to anyone about a good cause when they will happily take money from Qatar, Abu Dhabi or Saudi Arabia? Why is the land the government standing by and letting the premier league sell off our national game to facist regimes, actually I know why because all this government cares about is money.

I love football, I love tottenhqm hotspur but the whole thing has gone hasn't it. Owned by corrupt greedy wankers, played by greedy selfish players, shown by rip off TV stations and watched by shallow fans who care more about their team winning than being owned by a murderous facist regime.

I cant shake the feeling of sadness and hopelessness
Everything goes in cycles. When I was a kid, Italian football was much richer than us. Fans will get pissed off at lack of competition. Sky subscriptions will reduce as people stream, turn away etc. Look at the Man City attendances already.

Who the hell wants to live in Newcastle. THE place is an absolute joke. I remember I went there once to see my friend from Uni and they had a live water show in the city centre. It ended up being a sprinkler hooked upto someone’s sink with some random fairy lights!
Watched Get Carter the other month and it has the fugliest sets & locations since Andy Warhol's low budget films from 60's. Every shot made me squirm with how repulsive that "city" looked. Well worth another viewing...

Someone chuck some blood-spattered fake limbs/heads/torsos on the pitch at St James'. Give the Sky director a heart attack.

Would be great if our away fans made a lot of noise about this in the next game.

May I suggest…

To the tune of Bread of Heaven:

When’s the stoning?
When’s the stoning?
When’s the stoning On the half way line?

Or to the tune of Sloop John B

There’s blood on your hands
There’s blood on your hands
You’ve sold your souls
There’s blood on your hands.

Sad day for football and a sad day for clubs like Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool (maybe even Man Utd). Newcastle will buy their way to the top in a season or two and clubs like ours will be pushed further down the league table.
