OK, further to my earlier note, this should be our road map for the summer:
1. Get a new goalkeeper as Hugo has had enough and wants to leave, and to be fair is past his sell-by date.
2. Get rid of Aurier, Docherty so get a new right-back.
3. Get rid of Dier, Toby (both clearly no longer in favour, despite the latter being our best defender) and Sanchez, and replace with Tanganga to work alongside Joe Rodan.
4. Keep Hojbjerg and Dembole but make it clear to the latter that as the creative midfielder he is there to make things happen for 95 minutes EVERY game.
5. Keep Harry Kane if he'll stay, and possibly Sonny provided he can keep his head out of the clouds for EVERY game.
6. Get rid of the rest other than the kids who should be given a chance.

I think there lies a much deeper problem then just the players at the club atm. Not even worth discussing at this point.

"Their goal woke us up a little bit if I'm being honest"

How many fucking times is the players going to say this? Maybe hypnotherapy is the only answer

yeah you’re right mate, tell ndombele that the 3 gilt edge chances he created today is nowhere near enough and tell son and Kane that if they go a game or two without scoring then they will be straight on the market. Great plan that. Oh and Hugo, you can fuck off too cos you had a few bad games in your 9 year spell here and we think Nick Pope will be a better option for us. Take your armband with you.

Hmmm I follow that. But take a look a Man City; they cottoned on to the fact that Joe Hart was becoming a bit iffy so they replaced him with Everson. Maybe it wasn't that nice but they were ruthless in order to gain success. Maybe we should be the same.

Do you guys feel Højbjerg shields our defense effectively? Watching the game yesterday i could see us open and inviting pressure. Too be honest I've not paid to much attention to his positioning however I recall a few times him taking a shot from just outside the box. For a defensive midfielder is he getting too involved in attacks and not providing coverage at the back? I would rather have him sit back and protect Sanchez and Rodon. Trying to find answers as to why we have such openness in our play.

He got sold because pep didn't think he was good enough with the ball at his feet

Yesterday I felt that Tanganga, Sanchez, Reggie, Ndombele, Le Celso, Vinicius had bad games. Lucas had a pretty quiet one too. Lamela then came on and held onto the ball too long and didn’t really have the impact we’ve come to expect and Son didn’t really do much either. I don’t really remember the last time so many players played well below their usual standards? Very worrying.

I dont get it. Professional football players and some can't control the ball, kick with thier left, make correct decisions, shoot correctly and make simple passes etc.. What do they do all day in training? How did some make the grade? After 1000's of hours of football you must be 100% compitent, surly. There must be people behind the scenes that are making wrong decisions that don't understand what makes a good rounded player. Coaches are just as bad, the mighty Jose imo, gets it wrong oftern and cant seem to motivate players or coach players correctly. I dont believe its diffefcult as it seems.

Changing the subject , why did Bale fresh on the pitch take the late free kick. As a capt, I would have tokd him to FO and call Kane over who was finding his range. Absolutely unprofessional.

Jose must bore them to death sharing his philosophy on football with them during his prematch talk. They all need cold showers and slapping each other, crazy gang style.

Newcastle had 17 shots in rhe penalty area, the most they've ever had under Steve Bruce in a PL match.

Their xg in this match of 4.07 is the 3rd highest of any PL team this season

How are we out here making Steve Bruce look like Pep ffs ?

I can't get over how many times we gave the ball away.
No evidence to say this manager knows how to build our defence - despite his historical reputation - there's no pattern to our passing. We look seriously under coached.
I believe it's a talented squad being very badly managed.

The start to the second half was unbelievable. It’s quite an achievement but I’d haven’t seen us be so useless on the ball for a good many years as we were yesterday.

Yes, but some of the players are very much a problem and that won’t go away with a new manager.

I'm sure it's got a lot to do with Jose feeling duty-bound to play Lo Celso and Ndombele in a genuine footballing midfield - great when you've got possession but anonymous when you lose it. Combine that with the absence of a steadying influence amongst the back 4 and you're issung an open invitation to your opponents to have a go!

I don't think of Hojbjerg as a defensive midfielder as such, more of a destroyer. He chases, closes down, blocks and breaks up play, but doesn't sit in front of the defence, which is what we need. Next season Skipp will provide added protection but we need to move to a 3 man midfield to get the right balance. Currently our defence is left exposed, meaning that the weakest area of our team is put under even more pressure and mistakes continue to be made. This is the biggest issue with the double pivot that Jose favours.
