If Luka still pushed for a move to Chelsea it could be about nothing but money now, the excuse that he had a better chance winning silverwear was more plausible in the off season, that no longer flys, if Luka stays with us for another 2 seasons then he is a player of true integrity.
He deserves his big pay day as much as the next over paid player but he is young and can form the part of something special now, the oppotunity to be a life long legend at a club of prestige, in my opinion thats worth a lot.
But having said that if i was offered double my wages and the worst thing that was going to happen is i look hipocritical and get some abuse one game a year, well i am not sure i would be that man of integrity
Without growing up a life long fan how can you expect loyalty to prosper over financial gain

Still no matter what happens he comes out looking 5 times the man Berbatov did

Then sell him to BarcaMadrid or someone else on the continent.

Always amuses me when folk use this argument.
You mean you love money...and then objectify your subjectivity in order to not feel quite so dirty, right
I mean, the history of the World is filled to brimming with folk who put any number of things before personal acquisitiveness, even to the point of losing their lives.

n.b. I quite like money :shifty:

thats the world of capatalism my friend, until humanity has a star trek moment we will all want to have more money to purchase more 'things'
i'm quite happy were i work but if another company offered me 3 times the amount and it was next door i would be off! isnt excactly losing your life is it, its improving it

my beef in the summer wasnt witrh luka wanting to leave for triple the wages it was with how he talked to the press about it and stupidly praised chelsea as big a great club, a bigger club and his dream club. a tottenham player claiming chelsea is a bigger and better club

But there are folk who aren't working for financial remit, as we speak. I, personally, prefer to do what I am, which is self-emplyed, rather than applying for jobs that have far more financial renumeration that my qualifications would allow me to apply for.

I agree with the second paragraph. Modric was effectively tapped-up, and then appeared to be working to force us to accept a lower bid than reasonable, and limit the clubs we could sell to to one. And, like you say, bigging up that bunch of parvenus oil-mafia playing-in-a-corrugated-shack no marks was disgusting.

yep it was a knife in the heart, and i doubt i'll ever have much love for the guy again. I totally appreciate him still as an amazing player though and glad he is still here for now

Exactly.
Whereas prior to his antics I viewed him as the antidote to the modern footballer, and was looking forward to having him at the Lane for years, I am now quite open to selling him in the Summer if it benefits us to do so (I would probably advocate selling him if we win the EPL, for instance, to reinvest in exciting young talent, see above ^^^). Just so long as it is abroard and not to our rivals, though. As things stand, he remains Modric, can't see myself switching back to the diminuitive for him.

If, however, he wants to totally rededicate himself to the club for the foreseeable having realised his dreadful error, and humbles himself, thangs could change - becuase he is a wonderful player
