I think it's a bit of leap to go from @What Lies Beneath 's statement to "he wanted to sell Kane and son!".
Yeah, these things lose all their context in the footballing game of Chinese whispers. If Slot had said, “I’d love to work with Kane, but if there’s no chance of him signing a new contract we should perhaps look at selling him to fund a rebuild, and maybe Sonny would want to leave with the project at this stage, and we want players committed for the next four years.” That comes through as: “He wants to sell the big boys.” It’s all contextual with no nuance.

He did say "what if I were to tell you that...".
I read it that he was painting a possible scenario to make a point, more than that was actually what happened.

Maybe I'm wrong but we do often read too much into any little thing said by the ITK's and I'd find it hard to believe any manager would want to sell a player like Kane as a condition of joining.
That's not exactly the best way to get a warm welcome from the fans and the best chance of a successful start.
I'm not saying it was the absolute truth (and I don't think it is), but even with the "what if", in that scenario selling the big boys could very easily be interpreted as Kane and Son. So it really isn't that much of a leap for someone who may have just read it too quickly or it was their first go to thought.

But then having little to no context allows people's minds and imaginations to run wild (I understand why from the ITK perspective). Which when it comes to this fanbase and SC in particular it tends to be the ultimate worst case scenario every time.

That's fair enough but we've now got people saying that's what he wanted to do, as if it's gospel.
Before we know it, this will become the next "doing us a favour".

It really shouldn't be a surprise for you to see people take rumour and hear say on here and turn it into fact..

So has there been any more DoF links?
Spors seemed to go off the table, apparently because he didn’t want to surrender his global role with multiple clubs.
Krösche appeared to commit himself to Eintracht.
Stiedten was amongst the early front runners, but it all went quiet. Sure I saw something this week saying he was still high up on our list but has two other PL clubs looking at him.
Pinto, seemed a bit leftfield, but then was there something about upcoming investigations from his time at Benfica?
Dykes from Brentford was the other name, but seemed to get dismissed.

Gone very quiet other than Steidten.
I would hope that we get someone Nagelsmann could think he could work with. Fingers crossed

So what do you think WLB meant when he said he wanted to 'sell the big boys'?
Was this definitely what he meant? It read to me like a rhetorical question. Like what if he (Slot) wanted to sell our top players but Levy didn't agree. I'm not sure if he was saying this is what happened but I could be wrong. I'm not sure if we would have even got that far in discussion with Slot to be honest. Especially without having a dof in place. Surely the dof would need to be involved in the discussion about player recruitment. They would have to be the ones to determine if we should cash in and rebuild or at least agree to it as theyre the ones who need to get the replacements. Nothing about the Slot deal falling through suggests we didnt agree to back his ideas. It comes across we werent willing to pay the compensation for him.

surely after 22 years dear daniel fuckwad levy would have learnt this but no no he hasn't so no doubt the things we all know shouldn't happen are happening.

You spend 40 mins fumbling about in the dark and then end up arguing about whether you pulled out or not.
Only one of you ends up getting fucked and left with the baby.

Or in Levy's he spends the whole night thinking about it and the repercussions before going in and shagging the sofa instead of his Mrs.

I'm certain it was rhetorical, but it will become fact now. In the years to come we will talk about how we didn't get Slot because he wanted to sell Kane and Son, and that we didn't go for Nagelmann because we didn't want someone who felt like they were doing us a favour. 😏

Trouble with this is although Levy has got a lot wrong people will still add more fuel to the fire. It just builds up so everything is taken literally. In reality if we only deal with the facts it's still enough to put blame on him. There's no need to assume things are happening without knowing the truth.

Really looking forward to getting some clarity on Paratici's situation. Once we know what's happening there, the club will move swiftly to appoint a top DOF who will in turn bring in his own head coach. Buzzing to see that swing into action the moment we know about Fabio's future!

not having a DoF???????? Fuck you Levy.

Although, in this instance, some really good managers aren’t in a job. We’re apparently just not interested in employing them.
