Sky Sports News are reporting that Neymar told Brazilian TV that he was racially abused in the game against Scotland. Not sure that will help any English club that tries to get him.

Can Scots racially abuse? I thought by now they'd know their place at the bottom of the racial anthropological pile

Well that rules out Celtic and Rangers then!

we don't have to have a dzeko-type to lead the line. neymar is too young to be thrust into our current team and expect him to do the job, but he'll be a good player in years to come.

let's be honest, we're using defoe at the moment and if he was scoring goals in combo with VdV, we wouldn't be crying out for a big man up front.

if we had a 20m+ bid (or so) rejected for aguerro, i don't see how a 20m or so bid for neymar would be ridiculous. gomes & sandro being around helps and we'd just need to adapt our game to stop dawson and bae from lamping it up in the air.

Don't think we have been watching the same games, at all. I think BAEs distribution is very good.

Haven't we got a special relationship with Internacional now?

We do...but when it was all done, I asked on here if that meant we had first refusal on their palyers and someone (who seemed to know) said it didn't quite work like that.
Perhaps someone could enlighten us, further:shrug:

i'd disagree. he's not as bad as palacios, but the number of times he plays the diagonal into the box (usually for crouch) or down the line for bale to chase is a lot more than his counterpart at right back. when it works, great, but the games i've watched this season his long balls haven't been great

He's replaced Robinho in the Brasil line-up and Robinho was kind of hit and miss at Manchester City, being a similar kind of player.

It's not really a valid argument saying he won't fit in our team - like VdV, the team line-up adjusts to accommodate should a player of Neymar's credentials be presentable to Spurs.

It's more a case of will he do a job in our line-up? Transpose Robinho in to our team as a bench mark and there's a probable answer.

Is that the Lucas who came on in the 2nd half? Thought he looked good. Brazil are looking pretty scary for the Olympics and the next world cup.

But that isn't 'just lumping it forward'...you are describing two ploys, both of which take more ability than 'lumping it forward', and you main gripe seems to be that it doesn't always come off. That's life, the harder something is to do, the higher the ratio of fails. The ironic thing is that the 'lumping it forward' ploy rarely fails because it is so easy to do, but also futile for a footballing team.
In short, I disagree with you, totally.

p.s. In case any missed it, Neymar plays for Santos, not Inter.

No, they were talking about Leandro who plays for Inter.

My error.

I skim read, the thread is about Neymar, and I saw his name mentioned around about the same place where the question about our relationship with Inter was raised.

Still, my mistake:whistle:

Personally i'm not convinced he will be a success in the premier league. I said the same about Robinho, and although there are differences in their styles of play Neymar is quite similar in his physique and unwillingness to get stuck in.

He'll probably do well in some of the more open home games in the prem, but will struggle to even show up against the tough playing teams away.

He's suited to Italy, and perhaps Spain, but won't cut it in the prem IMO.

We're we watching the same game?

Firstly, Neymar is a centre forward, not a winger/AMC like Robinho. Secondly, Hutton and Brown assaulted the poor fella yesterday, and he kept on going strong.

He looks a class act, and his style, i.e the way he skips past people, reminds me alot of Messi.

fair enough!

i think my original point was that we don't have to have a big man up front, if we can be flexible about the way we play to our forwards

we have enough creativity in the midfield to exploit a pacey striker - defoe's off colour at the mo. i'll admit to disliking Darren Bent when he was here, but his runs are just awesome. i think he'd have done well in this team

We don't have to have a big man up front, but, if we are going to play two pacey players who like to hug the touchline and whip crosses in, we do needsomeone who can take advantage of thsoe crosses. A lot of Lennon's crossing, ATM, seems to be quite low - so, no, it doesn't have to be a big man.
