Do people honestly think we’ve been negotiating with Roma/Zaniolo for the last few weeks and only the last few days Jose has said he wants to keep him. Come on….

There's something about this deal that reeks of Zaniolo and his agent angling for a new contract IMO.
That’s 100% what’s happening.

On the other hand his contract expires in 2024 so a decision has to be this year. I think that what’s going to happen is he’ll start the season with Roma but if no progress is made on an increased contract then it seems we may go back in later in the window. If Conte and FP really want him they can get him by paying the fee.

Likely I'm thick, but I don't understand the impasse?

Deal agreed with club, Mourinho not blocking it, player wants to come, agent pressing. What's the impasse?
They added something to the deal, you see you never really have a deal with them until it's all signed sealed and delivered and even then you take him and get him home as quickly as you can.

Hi Dodgy

Apologies but just need to give you a little feedback on this last post pertaining to the section in bold.

Its not so much what you have said but more what you haven't.

You see this was a gilt edged opportunity to blame Levy for not paying the money and yet for some reason you have elected not to take it.

I will assume this was an oversight on your behalf based on your usual determination to uphold the sentiments of the anti Levy brigade however this cant be totally overlooked so please consider this a written warning.

Good chap now I'll let you get back to having at em.

Yes - without any doubt. There is no other circumstance that could be envisaged. None. Ever. End of Line
I’m being cyber bullied.

Vigorelli (his agent) has been shopping Zaniolo to us and Juve the entire summer. Let’s not act like the contract isn’t a massive factor here. This is Roma’s last summer to get big money for him if he doesn’t renew.

It’s normal transfer window stuff - player hits 2 years before contract expires, club looks to either sell him for a big fee or to renew… is this really that controversial of a take?

I'd suggest the way you say it as if it's absolute fact is what people are taking the piss out of

I'm not bullying you for goodness' sake

It was the way it was being portrayed as 100%. You definitely have a point, but I think it's fair to say there are other alternatives, that have some credibility i.e. that he might want to come to us where the probability is more than 0%
