Who’s this Lacroix fella you all keep mentioning? Have we been linked at all? I’ve never heard of him.

Di Marzio mentioned our interest. Played a great season in Germany leading WOlfsburg into CL. Think there are some bits in the Tomiyasu thread

French centre back, plays for Wolfsburg. 21 yo. Linked by Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano. Like people say, Di Marzio seems to be getting a lot of info from Paratici as if he wants it in the press

Worse than Andersen?

For me - Anderson has the prior experience now of playing in PL. He also played in SerieA and got a move to Lyon. He certainly can long pass like Toby. In Fulham, he wasn't the reason they went down. So, he is ok choice.

Milenkovic is 4 years now at SerieA and none of the top SerieA clubs have come for him in this period...even when he is on his last year of contract. Also, I have watched some videos of Milenkovic playing Internationals - not good enough IMO.

I would rather want us to go for Tarkowski if Milenkovic is the choice - Tarkowski is atleast dependable CB in PL.

My no1 choice of CBs linked to us is Lacroix - though it looks like he is nailed on to go to Leipzig.

I respect what your saying but I highly disagree. I agree with the fact that Anderson has experience in the epl and that could help to better acclimatize to our team. However, based off your argument that Milenkovic was in serie a with no big teams wanting him is completely wrong...you only need to do a quick google search to see that every team from inter, juve, milan manchester united etc have been consistently linked with him in the past few years. Fiorentina have been known to be hard bargainers and have always held a crazy price tag over his head which has consistently put off teams for such a young cb. This coupled with the fact that Fiorentina has largely struggled in serie a over the past few years has not shown well for the team as a whole in regards to their defensive stats. Now...does this mean hes the best option for us...im not sure, but i most certainly think he would be a good buy. Hes young so has room to learn, has decent pace, is very aggressive and decent with both feet. He can be a little reckless and step out of the line or make a stupid challenge but that is part of the learning curves for young centre backs. I would love lacroix (as I think hes the next varane) but I would also be very happy with milenkovic as I think he would be a LONG term improvement and short term on what we currently have.

Just getting linked with a big club doesnt mean anything - it comes down to whether they signed him or not. Its not like Florentina haven't sold players to SerieA clubs. They have.

My view on him cemented after watching 5'8 Diego Jota aerially beating 6'4 Milenkovic...not once, but twice in one game to score 2 goals (Serbia v Portugal 2-2 in Mar2021)...And same game, he lost his head and got a straight red as well.

May be its just 1 game, may be I am harsh. May be, if we are cash rich and have money to take a punt on a CB then dont mind us going for him. But ,if we are looking for a starting CB with good quality - not having him. Far better choices out there.

If he's constantly being linked to big clubs it means they are constantly scouting him because they are interested but the price tag was off putting...Take koulibaly from napoli for example. You cant tell me for the last few years every big club in the world did not want him. Every year napoli confirmed there was massive interest and massive bids made, yet napoli had a ridiculous price tag and never sold him...does that make him a bad defender because he never moved on?

Your right, he shouldn't be getting beat by 5'8 players and probably had a bad game. As I said in my comment he is overly aggressive and rash. But if we counted everytime a cb lost a header to someone much smaller then them as a measure for how good they really are there wouldnt be many choices left.

I watch Serie A quite alot and have seen him develop the past few seasons. I think he is a good player for his age with much to learn but would improve our defense in my opinion.

huh? So if we don't get Romero we'd try to get 3 cbs of lesser quality, 1 of which we are already trying to get anyway?

Anyone watch Serie A regularly? Cant see i've seen too much of him.

I do. He is a top class defender but has a more "old school" aka Vidic style of defending compared to the ultra aggresive push to win style of Romero. In Fiorentina He has played mostly on the right or in the central postition in a back 3. I think he would be a as good choice as Romero but I cannot see them both coming, because they are both not the most pacey defenders. So i see it like first choice to build around (Romero) if that deal falls through Build around Milenkovic. Milenkovic is top class but Romero got somthing else. He kills for every duel and that would be something new for our defence since Jan left.
