Hope it works out. I think he’ll tear it up in league 1. But suprised he’s not at a championship side - guaranteed game time I guess!

I have high hopes for Nile John and Harvey White. A CM3 of Skipp, White and John offers us a lot of flexibility and versatility and I hope I can see that happen in the near future.

No senior minutes yet on loan but it’s been 3 losses on the trot for Charlton. The manager likely will be looking to shake things up, if Nile keeps his head down he should get his chance soon.

Personally, I think it will be fruitful for his development that he’s come in and has had to fight for his spot.

To be honest, if he’s left our u23 and can only get a game in their u23 that surely sets alarm bells ringing, right?

youd expect any of our loan players would be getting first team football fairly immediately so unless something changes soon this could be a waste of a loan

We always give new players plenty of time to settle in but when a young player in loaned in fans seem to expect immediate results.

Hopefully he's just settling in for a few weeks and proving himself in training and for the U23's before he gets game time.

I understand your point entirely, and I’m not going to get in a state because he hasn’t walked straight into the charlton first team immediately.

But I’m sure I’m not alone in finding it odd that he’s gone from being in our u23 squad (and needing a challenge) to playing a game in Charlton’s u23s (which by definition is a step down)
I doubt we’d have agreed to the loan if we had concerns that league 1 was too much for him.

if it’s a one off based on fitness then it’s not a problem. Plenty of players do this.
If he can’t break into their 1st team after a month of u23 games then I think we’d all be worried.

That’s my point

Yeah. I see no sense him being there if all they do is stick him in their U23 week in week out.

think some are overreacting here, he played one u23 game and has since been on the bench for charlton's last two league games. it's a bit annoying that he hasn't played yet but he's only been there a few weeks.

Was on the bench today for the 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday. Charlton have about 12 games remaining in the league and I would hope to see Nile feature in a minimum of 5 of those.

There’s more to a loan than actual playing time at his age.

Getting them out of the comfort of the academy and being around a group he doesn’t know where he has to push hard to make a impression on his own.

It’s all about getting new experiences.
