can't believe it - but can't see it - so here goes - apologies if I've missed the thread

Daniel Levy, Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur plc, said: “Revenue continues to grow as we drive all areas of the Club. The decrease in profit from operations before player trading and amortisation reflects one-off costs including the changes to football management made during the period. The business continues to generate good levels of cash and the increase in assets reflects our continued desire to invest for long term growth.”

thanks for info Paul - but surely such a vital piece of news - far more important than yet another transfer thread etc (no offence to most threads including mine - but they are dependent on the all-important finances) surely should be discussed on spurs chat

Agreed is important. Looks like we are in good shape which is the main thing.

Levy has confirmed that our stadium options have been hit by tougher borrowing conditions. I wonder if we'll defer the decision even more...

yep Nick the finances still look good - will we break the D&T top ten 'rich list' this year? our 'prize money' for 10/11th should be considerably more than last season's 5th place

it's important we continue to prioritise the playing side rather than getting in trouble over property issues

We shouldn't overstretch ourselves on the stadium for sure. However as has been discussed by many on here we risk being less and less able to compete on the playing field if we don't get a significant boost in matchday revenues. Without CL revenues the next best thing is to have a stadium that can help us bridge the gap with the CL teams through a big boost in revenues.

So hard to get the balancing act right though...

too right Nick - as I've posted before, I remember some eye watering quotes about the cost of expanding our current stadium years ago, whether they were true I don't know - but cost is crucial and I'm no expert on it

I dunno Arsenal have a big stadium but they don't sopend more than us. I don't think our stadium is key to us being in the CL.

fair point Kendall :) AFC won the double with a 38,000 capacity and it's often said that their ground costs are keeping down their transfer spending - though we also know Wenger's always been shrewd in that area anyway

we can definitely qualify for CL with our current capacity, but highering it will probably make it more likely, and just as importantly enable more fans to watch us live

As I've said many a time I think we missed a trick about 5 years not expanding the Lane when we could have, but equally it seems the costs were so high it made such an expansion a massive gamble, though I have my reservations on the costings - but what do I know

all I know is as a fan I feel the ground issue hasn't been handled well over the past 20 years and we should have a better stadium now than we do have

Yeah but the money generated by a big stadium would be handy to pay top dollar for players when competing for top talent. We slag off Wet Spam, Barcodes and Citeh when they pay joke money for players but there are a few occasions when it's because we're gutted we missed out on someone.

Arsenal already have CL footie to offer potential signings. Without that we have to emphasise:
- Our potential
- Our great manager
- Being based in London (definite bonus for foreign signings)
- European (just UEFA) football
etc.

I'm just saying it would be helpful to add "Great wages" to that list

Tiago and Petrov are a couple that allegedly would be at the Lane if we could have done that.

good points Nick :) so much depends on our business model. at the moment we're run like a typical plc ie looking for profits, solvency etc,

for years and years I've thought our best chance of turning the top 4 into a big 5 with us in it was to have a sugar daddy in the Chelsea, Blackburn (90s) mould

I still think that - but lots disagree - however while we pursue the 'sensible business' approach we have a massive costs dilemma on our hand between players costs (fees and wages) and other costs like stadium and training ground costs

What Arsenal have that we don't is Arsene Wenger. Professional's within football all want to work with Arsene as he is a pioneer in football training methods, and imo he is the best football coach/manager of all time.

He has some tubby old English guy who is the coach. Saw an article on this in January. Apparently the guy loves the Arse so much he turned down a role with England or something. He is very highly respected in the industry.

Maybe not, but we couldn't expect to service the level of debt the nomads have, without it.

Having said that, though, I don't see Levy as being too keen to have that level of debt, in any event.

Truth is, without a larger ground, our match-day revenue will eventually start to 'dry', because there is physical limit that punters can/will pay to reguarly watch a game of football.

We need 45-55,000 capacity to give us the opportunity of progressing. No idea where we are going to get it from, at the moment, though

So, from the original post, Jol's sacking and Ramos' wages have (potentially) screwed our accounts for the year. Well, I guess we knew that and it just serves to underline the risks we took when approaching JR. So far, so reasonably good with the Spainiard, and next season we'll see the value of Levy's investment.

Our enormous fan-base should mean we will continue to do well financially. Globally, our exposure continues to rise. Seems a shame no one has come up with an idea to host a Premier League match overseas, as Spurs games would sell out wherever they are. The boost to merchandise sales and investment from the host country would be very tidy. Can't believe it hasn't been brought up before... :shifty:

you think the price of a matchday ticket will go down with a new stadium?

Winning The UEFA cup would be a helluva statement regardless of its diminishing status. It's done Sevilla and Porto no harm in the long run and set them up for their challenges in the Champions League.

It also sits well with the players and winning breeds WINNING.

like kendall previously said: a larger stadium is not key to us getting into the champions league.

however, i think that it could well be if we wanted to be on a consistent basis
