Toon will be fielding the French national side at this rate, minus Hugo of course.

Let's be honest. Apart from Debuchy (who is actually in the NT) none of their signings are big names or get in the national side. They're hoping a couple will develop but it's a risky strategy, just ask Wenger.

pool have just had a £8.5 mil bid for coutinho accpeetd. another off the list.
This is bad news for us, the kid has a lot of skill and potential. If this is true I am really starting to get worried about L'pool. They have made some great signings and could be serious contenders for fourth here on out. When those jokers over at RAWK made up our interest in Coutinho I was really wishing it where true. Inter must really be struggling for cash as they have just sold there top two midfielders.

Not really relevant to our transfers I know but I do worry about the teams below us if we don't strengthen.

The thing that does frustrate me about this waiting game is looking at Sturridge at Liverpool. Shit, I don't even rate him, but it's obvious the type of impact he has made coming into that side. Providing goals in key moments and even though his goal didn't prove to be of much use against United, it at least instilled some sense of belief into his side.

It's reasons like that, when I see us struggling to break a deadlock against QPR or having countless wasted opportunities against United, that I almost feel like we hurt ourselves more than help ourselves by waiting (let me make this clear: In January). I trust the process, but when there are deals to be found, to me it's a bit of a letdown to simply not take advantage of them instead of hoping that these bargain players can last until the end of the window so we can pull their clubs pants down and get them even cheaper.

That being said, fuck Liverpool. Their defense still blows.

I know its off topic but why the fuck didn't we go in for Coutinho? 9m is an absolute steal. 20 year old who's likely to have a huge sell on value, should have Levy all over it. Others are strengthening so we need to sign Holtby & Negredo to cement our position now.

Plus they've got a squad filled with overpaid mediocrity. At least Rodgers seems to be identifying the right sort of players for them.

As for Spurs being busy on the last day of the season...like you say, of course we will be. We'll be phoning clubs around Europe to see if there are any last minute deals to be made. Probably still negotiating with Schalke etc...

I think the real question is why are Inter selling Coutinho to Liverpool if he's so good?

Holtby on a free/£1.6m >>> Coutinho at £9m.

Not sure Rodgers has been anything other than average in the market to be honest.

I don't think Sturridge is anything remotely special. He gave the go ahead to spend £26m on Borini and Joe Allen! Awful deals.

I do like Coutinho though. Well, I did when I see him a couple of years ago. Can only assume he has gone off the boil if Inter are happy to let him go.

For the past week the whole world has known that Liverpool were chasing Coutinho as well as the price needed to capture him. If any big club wanted Coutinho I am sure they could have gone in and gotten him. I think people would be less excited by the kid if his name didn't end in "tinho"...

Don't get the fuss about Coutinho. I've watched him dozens of times for Inter. Has the odd moments of genius in between half hour spells of being a spectator. Similar to Taarabt. He could prove good but I'm not worried about missing out.

They are really REALLY strapped for cash hence selling there top 1/2 players Sneijder and now Coutinho. Although young and still has a lot to learn I personally rate Coutinho higher the Holtby, better on the ball. Real shame we didn't go in for him, think he could have a great career.

Coutinho is one of these football manager/ fifa wunderkids lol

very unproven player and not very highly rated in his home country, one might say players like him are a dime a dozen in Brazil. Kerlon MK II

truth be told Holtby is alot more highly rated in the real world with a far better workrate and more adaptable

I mean the saints and scousers are in for him and how anyone can say he close to Sniejders level or one of inters top 2 midfields is laughable at the very least

Coutinho bid in doubt now as we won't up our latest 10m offer.

This has allowed Saints to come in and offer 12m so, obviously, Inter want a higher fee off us now, but I reckon we won't oblige as apparently 10m is already 1m more than we think he is worth, so we won't match Saints offer imo.

I think the only way he'll be at Liverpool now is if the player himself forces the move and says LFC or nowhere, but even then some think Inter would keep him than sell him for less. Have to wait and see tonight/tomorrow, but I'm not confident at all.

It seems after THAT summer under Comolli there is a transfer committee comprised of BR, Ayre, Head of Stats Analysis and Head Scout. They decide on opening offer amount and opening salary offer to player, and an absolute maximum offers for both these too and if club and player reject our pre-determined highest offers, then we move on to the next target on the list.

Don't know if this is a good way of operating or not.

Seems as if everything I was told about how we were going to play this transfer based on what my mate was told has happened. He said we wouldn't up are bid but would rely on the player pushing thru the deal to us over Saints whose offer was more lucrative. The only difference that has been made from our end is that we've agreed to pay most of the fee up front now.

After the ridiculousness of the Comolli reign I have had no confidence in our recruitment process or policy, as always suspicious when the Manager isn't in complete control of signings but I think they've done really well this window to be fair to them, even though I'm still a little sceptical. Time will tell.

Now on to Ince....

How many games has Borini played in the league again this season to give you such an informed opinion that he can already be wrote off with such certainty? How may games have you watched him play 90 mins this season? He's been out most of the season. He's looked better since coming back from injury. His off the ball movement in-particular has been great.

Most LFC fans wrote off Lucas but after a few seasons, when Mascherano left, he became a very good and reliable DMC. We were lost without him last season. I imagine you will feel similar in regards to Sandro missing the rest of this season, so you can imagine how we felt last season.

We also all wrote off Henderson last season but he's been so much improved this season with Lucas struggling after his big injuries to the point if he isn't picked to start against Arse, there will be outcry from Liverpool supporters!

Lets not all be so quick to judge players who have only been playing in this team for a very short amount of time. We simply haven't had enough games/time to be writing off Allen and Borini as wasted money. This really grinds my gears,

I certainly haven't wrote off Dempsey/Siggy as "poor signings" or thought LFC "dodged a bullet" like many LFC fans are saying. Mainly because I watch a lot of Spurs (and Swansea as I enjoy watching both teams play football) as we rarely play the same times these days, and I have seen there are signs with both players that they could become very successful, especially CD, but, most importantly, its just FAR too soon to write anyone off yet.

Sorry about the rant, but the lack off patience in modern football, and how quick fans are to totally write off players/Managers really grinds my gears, especially when its from fans of other teams (not just Spurs fans by the way) who, most of the time, have seen very little of the player/team, outside M0TD or just when their team have played them.
