I've watched him quite a lot. Pretty much every Spurs game so far. I understand what you're saying but just don't get why he deserves more stick than Defoe. Then again we don't have much option upfront... Adebayor has been pretty much anonymous since he signed the permanent deal, and now suddenly he plays well for Togo...

Since Defoe is injured, I'd just opt for Dempsey with Holtby. Personally, Defoe is an excellent impact sub. This season we always score in the second half, so we might as well not start with Defoe until he's fully recovered.

So you're not a Tottenham supporter and we're not Clint supporters. All even, I'd say.

I'm kidding. I like Deuce. Used to be a Revolution season ticket holder when he was playing in the MLS. You will find yourself frustrated if you try to force Deuce on the people here, though. Now, don't let the negativity fool you, people here don't actually hate him. So much of this is subconscious and is linked to the transfer window. He is associates with a lot of disappointment in the last window when it was felt that we lost our beloved VDV and got this guy who wasn't VDV. Honestly, unless he had been Messi, that VDV replacement misconception was always going to be hard on him. You could see it so clearly after he was bought. And there is also some residual disappointment that he was the closest thing to a forward we got when we had been linked with all of these marquee names. Obviously not Deuce's fault, but the association is there and will take time to work past.

In the long run, Dempsey is a hard worker with a good engine, great lung capacity and most important, he's a fierce competitor. You once said that if his name was Dempsinho, we would think differently of him. You are misguided in that association. If Dempsey had cockney accent, we would think differently of him. He is the kind of player that English people hold in high regard - he's got a bit of grit to him. And they will come around due to those intangible things that make him an asset.

That being said, there are limitations to his game. And to get the best out of him, you need him running. He's a great player for a counter-attacking side. Games like tonight where we had to break them down, he's not the guy you want playing 90. For games like tonight he's better suited to be an impact sub.

Which sadly works horribly against him. His PRIORITY should be to pass. Defoe's priority should be to shoot.

It's Defoe's job to score yes, but to say it's his priority to shoot is wrong. He should shoot when its best for him to do so, not whenever he gets the ball. Bale's priority isn't just to pass, the roles in a football team are not that simplistic. He also has to score goals for the team. He can't get that many assists when our movement up front is so bad.

They both get criticized on here for being selfish and Bale certainly deserves the label as does Defoe but it's wrong to say Bale should get as much shit as Defoe because he "doesn't score more". The fact that they have the same number of league goals is because Bale is exceeding expectations on his goal return. A young winger in his best goalscoring season obviously wont get as much criticism for goalscoring as an experienced striker who's job it is to get goals and has 1 in his last 9.

I have had a hard time to express how i feel about Dempsey because im not the greatest in English. But i feel like he is a decent player in the wrong position. But not a starter in a top4 club. For once maby i get this right, Hope so. What i mean is look at Chelsea,manu,Manc,arsenal they have world class players in the NR10role and non can say that Dempsey is that player. Cazorla,Mata,Kagawa and Silva. Sorry for my maby a bit dumb words about dempsey. I have gone a bit over the line a few times can recognize that.

I have expressd my self wrong. Dempey is a bad player in that position. And i dont think he should play that Nr10role its not his game. Maby have been a bit harsh on him.
