I remember thinking it when he was being loaned out a lot, I can't say if I ever shared those thoughts on here or not. I blame the cider.I remember some people saying Kane was the new Lee Barnard.
I guess there's still time...
The one lad I used to think would make it was Mark Yeates, I used to watch him regularly when the reserves played at Stevenage on a Monday night, I really thought he'd step up. He got a chance in the FA Cup against Chelsea, I'd already told my Chelsea supporting mate to watch out for him, Yeates hit the post, an inch the other way and things could have been a lot different if that had gone in.
One lad I never thought would make a Premiership player who's proved me wrong is Charle Daniels, played alongside Yeates in the reserves so I saw a lot of him, I'm pleased for him though.
Speaking of players whose career could have gone another route, does anyone remember Gregor Raziak? Scored on his debut for us from a corner but the ball was judged to have swung behind the byline and then back into play so it didn't count. Sometimes it's those little things that can launch or destroy a career.
When Frank Arnesen was at Spurs we had a couple of strikers on trial, one of them, I can't remember which one, was a big powerful lump but didn't possess a lot of skill, I saw someone use these words to describe him- "He can trap a ball further than I can kick it". Sounds a bit like Sissoko to be honest.
