The Champions league would've been much more easy IMO for Sandro to adapt to than the EPL...

Exactly. I would have thought that with the recent competition experience he has just gained he would have adapted to Champs League quickly.
Harry even made a statement, when Sandro was lined up, that Fergie had told him over dinner the number of Brazilians playing in Champs League. I imagined he was purchased to provide cover for the back four in this competition.

He doesn't need to rest, he's already had more rest than most of our players this year.

I think he should be part of the squad as part of his football education. It would be of great benefit for him to be involved with the lads in preparation for CL games, to get used to the procedure and to bond with his new team mates.

Even if he doesn't get a game, it would be a lot more beneficial than having the likes of Hutton and O'Hara in the squad, who will be sold in the near future. I really can't see the reason for not including him. It's a 25 man squad, plenty of room.

Got to be homest i have never felt that the Sandro signing was a Redknapp type of acquisition. Perhaps he needs time to assess this player properly. If the situation has been explained to Sandro then hopefully he will appreciate the time that the club will allow him to settle, especially after a long season in Brazil?

Why does there always have to be conspiracy with some people? The reply the OP got is honest and spells out the club's reasons for not putting the player in the squad.

It's not going to change because we don't like it so what's the point in having a paddy over it?

Can't understand the drama. Unproven player, who harry has already moaned about or a Tottenham lad who covers loads of positions, has a knack for getting the odd goal and had a very successful loan away.

On merit alone O'hara deserves his spot.

I also think Jenas, Hutton and Bentley still have a role to play at spurs, far from deadwood.

I personally think this is a PR own goal, so what if the kids not ready, so what if he had no hope of getting any game time in the CL groups stages, it would of giving the kid confidence and a sense of belonging, to of been named in the 25, what sort of a message does this send out, a negative one.

I agree. You don't sign a player for £6-8m and not name him in the squad at all.

A full Brazilian international and Copa Libertadores winner is less proven than a bit part Spurs player with a back injury and no comeback date who spent last season on loan at relegated Portsmouth??

And to think they say we're parochial in England!

Man United may not have regretted the signings of Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba if they had given them some 'bedding in' time.

They were both highly rated too.

I think the situation is much more simple than some people think, as the reply from Spurs says the lad has just had a full season in Brazil
this is a load of bollocks though. So far this calender year he has only really competed in the state championships and CL, they took a summer break for the WC this year in Brazil and so he's played probably less games than most of our first teamers this calender year.

I don't think many others would.

But I don't want to come across as dissing O'Hara, I think he's a handy player, but the real point is he's injured, we probably would have flogged him if he hadn't been and we pretty much know that even if fit he's not going to get in the side. Sandro on the other hand still has to come to terms with the PL, but we surely expect/hope he'll become a first team regular, certainly his pedigree's several cuts above O'Hara's and that's reflected in his career to date.

No one's arguing he should be thrown in there but if it came to a straight choice it seems incredible that an injured O'Hara's the pick above Sandro who's fresh from winning the South American Champions League. If he was Harry's transfer I think there's no doubt he'd be in the 25.

Yeah I bet that would have gone down really well with Levy if Harry had just decided not to pick him for a laugh. Who gives a fuck who signed him?

Modric is the first name on the team sheet and he wasn't signed by Redknapp.

I agree with you 100%, O'hara is probably nearly fit and probably been promised a place prior to the VDV signing.

Modric is the first name on the team sheet and he wasn't signed by Redknapp.

Nor was he signed over Harry's head.

Look I'm clearly just speculating here, but it's at least possible that Sandro's more of a Levy signing than a Harry one.

But whatever the real reason it seems bizarre that an injured, unwanted O'Hara with little or no chance of game time even if he is fit gets the nod over a full Brazil international and South American champions League winner.

The official reason is a strange one too as others have pointed out he's played less than the rest of the squad in 2010 and had a big rest over the World Cup. Plus he's not likely to be in the first team for a while so he'll be resting even more. Putting him in the 25 man would be a good experience for him, to no detriment to us and, if he's as good as he record suggests, perhaps to our great benefit.

The whole thing just seems odd!
