Yeah but at least he'd have been gone during the summer, since he does have all the ingredients of having a short tenure here, and we could have gotten in Klopp, who is a much better manager than Poch can dream of being and who actually is perfect for us right now.

Could we? Is that in the same way we could have gotten LVG when we appointed Poch, or Ancelotti when we appointed AVB? We are a second tier club. Bringing in a top tier manager is no different to bringing in a World class player, and as things stand we are not a big enough draw for managers in this bracket.

Berbatov was immense. Keane less so. Things improved between them when Berbatov dropped deeper and Keane played off the shoulder but they played independently of one another. Keane ended up with a lot more space thanks to Berbatov taking markers away. In terms of an actual partnership they rarely linked up as much as people remember it. Indeed if you look at the goals they both scored during that period there were very few Keane passes to Berbatov that resulted in goals.

Which summed at Robbie Keane for me. He thought he was a number 10. But he dwelled on the ball more than Dembele does. The amount of attacks and good possession that used to break down due to his dilly dallying. Whenever he had time to think he'd often mess it up. He could've been a great poacher but he was terrible with one on ones (again because he had think about what to do next). He had a lot of talent but didn't realise it in my opinion.

To be fair to him he did master the knack in his last season at Spurs of absolutely playing like a dog turd and popping up with a goal that would gloss over how shite he'd been.....
Perfect summing up this

Wonder which club has approached him.
Maybe none, he was always quite open that he didn't see himself in football for long and he wanted to give it up early and persue his hobby, motorcycling.

I'm sure that he's made more than he can spend if he invests even a little wisely

True enough. Let's face it, anyone approaching anything like the top tier leagues of football as a player or manager for anything like 3-5 yrs probably has enough to live on even without investing. Thinking about it... In one yr, a bog standard prem football taking home, after taxes, 40K a week basically has 52 yrs of a 40K a yr lifestyle. Doesn't sound much of course but something like 90% of the country would love to earn that in a yr. You put in an even 5 yrs and there ya go, 200K a yr early retirement package. Not bad.

Fuck I wish I was good at footy.

I suspect he feels he has done his 'rehab', and wants more of a challenge back in a bigger league with more exposure. As we all know he said he wants a short career (whether that literally happens or not, we will see), that suggests two/three years at clubs, try and win some things and then on to win elsewhere.

I'd be surprised if any side in England gave him another chance, after he blew two golden opportunities in the Premier League. Maybe he could get a gig at Celtic, which is more in line with his approach to generating success.

I dunno, he must have a decent offer somewhere. Mebbe Spain? Otherwise, big Russian club with a shekel or two and a city like St. P. Unless he is seriously considering packing it in already as suggested by @Geyzer Soze , it would be rash to walk away from that with no concrete offer waiting for him.

He's just throwing a sulk because Zenit put a curb on his spending and want him to use some Russian players. He'll probably end up in China, they're the ones throwing money around at the moment. I am sure he could win the Chinese league, well, if he has Moutinho obviously...

Obviously a good manager if he won league with Zenit and Porto (albeit having the biggest budgets in their respective leagues) and there's evidence that he does know what he's doing (albeit his style of football is boring) Definitely the wrong fit for us.

I once read that was the case before he even got into football. He comes from a very rich family.

Totally agree. I think that some fans find it hard to accept that pragmatic point of view though.

He got a 5th place finish with a record points total after losing key players and getting substandard replacements.
