Tottenham pair Gareth Bale and Benoit Assou-Ekotto have praised each other’s ability after having formed a formidable partnership down the left for Spurs over the past year.
Both players were crucial in Harry Redknapp’s side’s lengthy run in the Champions League where they were eventually defeated by Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
The Welsh winger praised the relationship he and the Cameroonian left-back have built up during last season.
Bale told the club’s official website: "Since I've been playing left midfield we’ve had a good understanding.
"We work well together and we help each other, both defending and going forward.
"It's been good playing with Benni and hopefully we can continue to do that. He's a good lad and he shows what he can do on the pitch, which is good for the team."
Assou-Ekotto likewise agreed with Bale’s comments believing the Welshman’s contribution going forward is extremely helpful to him and the other members of the Tottenham defence.
He added: "It's easy to play behind Gareth because he makes his right-back tired. He doesn’t need to help me a lot so he can concentrate on attack.
"Even without speaking too much on the pitch we have a good understanding and I know when he wants the ball into feet or into the space."
Good to see Bale looking to the future and Benni as confident as ever, have to love the guy .
