I still think if Pav was 1st choice striker and played more he would be a 20+ goals a season player, unlike Crouch.

He may get 20 goals but playing him every game would lead to our midfields contribution to the goal tally significantly decreasing, which would leave us up shits creek.

The only marquee we're getting is a new circus tent for the man on stilts

Well if it stops him from tripping over himself then we should go all out for that tent.

Is there much chance of a signing over the weekend? Or do clubs only sign on the 5 day work week.

I guess if we're giving Pavy a new contract and Crouch won't leave due to Redknapp, getting rid of Defoe and Keane would only really allow Vucinic and that youngster to join.

Again, sideways step imo.

I'd agree if you were referring to Defoe, When Defoe plays we don't score from midfield, Bale, VDV all dried up once Defoe came back from injury.

I agree with the comment, just the wrong player.

Any ITK on that, I don't think so...

Its a difficult one - season before last when no VDV forwards scored for fun - last season VDV appears and the forwards stop scoring

i'm not sure many forwards are going to score 20 goals with VDV as their co pilot

Pav is a very good player just need's to be more consistant and up his work rate more than happy for him to stay and sign a extension to his contract

You have to laugh at the idiocy of some supporters, You have Modric who is hell bent on leaving us and causing no end of trouble this past few weeks and then you have Pav, The Russian with a big heart for the club who wants to stay and yet you have some who see him as useless and should be the first thrown out, You talk about loyalty of the players yet some fans have no loyalty toward the players themselves, the hypocrisy and irony

Probably something to do with the fact that he is an infuriatingly lazy bastard, who, while capable of scoring seemingly whenever he feels like it, will also spend entire games doing absolutely fuck all.

But still, let's worship him because his agent has come up with some spurious crap about his heart belonging to Spurs

People often say Pavs is the best of our lot. That's kind of like a doctor saying "I'm least concerned about that colon polyp" and we respond with "yay that's my favorite scary mass in my rectum"

On one hand you have a player like Crouch who gives 100% everytime he pulls on a shirt, but just lacks the quality. On the other hand you have Pav who doesn't seem interested a lot of the time, but has the quality.

I like Pav as a squad striker but he'll never have the consistency to be a regular. He is a hugely popular player at the Lane though and I think that's important. Even if it isn't fully warranted.

I think what people appreciate about Pav is that he has the ability to affect games from the bench and seems like he will be happy with a bit part role. You can't really say the same about Keane or defoe, even if you prefer them as players. In view of the fact we are trying to upgrade our strikers, having one who is happy as back up and can score when coming on as a sub will be very useful indeed. That's why I'll be happy to see Pav sign a contract extension and would be happy to wave goodbye to all the others.

I don't understand the Pav love-in. Yes he scores the odd wonder goal but he also misses a fair few simple chances too. On top of that he is dreadful in the air for a player of his size, is weak and his first touch is terrible.

As for his heart belonging to Tottenham, hasn't he (or his agent) previously expressed a desire to leave? Maybe he's just realised that no one actually wants him...

Don't get me wrong, he isn't an awful player and I don't mind him, but I think some people rate him a little too highly.

You have to laugh at the idiocy of some supporters,They get a translated quote from a player AGENT, and then all of a sudden, they read it as the players qoute all along, and if you cut him in half you would see the word Spurs. This is the same player who is well 9 times out of ten ..shite...and has being quoted, either himself his representative or by anyone who has a view, to wanting to leave Spurs at various stages of his well paid services. Extremely well paid considering what hes delivered for it. The hypocrisy and irony.

Having said all that IF any of our strikers where to remain, i can see why several have chosen Pav, but its hardly a ringing endorsement, just perhaps the the least stupid answer

Can never get my head around how people think Crouch works hard and puts 100% in every game, he always look more lazy than Pav to me...
