we've come back from 1 down against better sides at least twice that i can recall off the top of my head.

and yet, here you are? It's more games and chances to watch Spurs, plus the chance of a pot?

I care, for sure. I was excited to watch our new signings and our young prospects. But I’m not bothered about this competition in the slightest. Would almost be embarrassing to win it (unless we stick with the youngsters all the way through).

These games against teams from ok leagues playing their cup final on a dodgy pitch are always tricky. Just like away games against lower league opposition in the cup. Only these are teams who have better quality than low level English sides and are playing on home soil. At home we win this game by at least a couple, i promise you.
Away or not, this still feels like losing to Colchester

Nuno got it all wrong straight and simple. He threw a team together and changed formation. The worst combination.

Yeah playing Gil as second striker when that won't be happening at the weekend. Romero in a back 3. A bit odd unless the intention is to transition to that formation.

I realize we are not playing our best players but even a full team of our reserves should smash that team. They only scored because Winks made a stupid mistake that professionals at that level shouldn't make. That aside, we can't even get a shot on goal.

This is bollocks.

Our reserves smash the 5th best team in Portugal last year?

I wouldnt be surprised to see us go out of the FA Cup to a second division side with that line up.

The worst part of this defeat is Harry and Charlie Kane have probably concocted some shit chant in response to “are you watching, Harry Kane?” and are singing it loudly and proudly.

Sorry to highlight your post in particular but I keep seeing this and it just isn’t true.

As many of us said in the build up thread, Paços aren’t some Cypriot or Albanian team, they’re the “best of the rest” when you take the 4 big boys out of the Portuguese league.

Sure they’re not Sporting Lisbon or Porto, but they’re certainly no Anorthosis Famagusta or FC Zimbru Chisinau either.

Yes we should be winning that, but to imply our youth team or reserve team should be absolutely pummelling them away from home is nonsense.

I get that.

I dont blame Nuno too much as the majority of us said we should play thereserves in this competition or in the main at the start of the competition. We barely had a shot though which is concerning and the players werent great

Im not going to lie, im finding it so hard to get up for this competition but particularly this game anyways. Maybe itll get better as the competiton continues.

Players need to take a look at themselves

Im quite glad this is happening because it seems to take about fifty thermo nuclear detonations before Levy perks up and says ‘did anyone hear something?’. And we’re at a critical moment in terms of what action we can take in the market.

We’ve accrued 10-15 or so truly awful to substandard players. Every season my hopes are pretty much that this will penetrate the glacial awareness of those in charge.

We don't know if we can rely on Skipp yet, far too early.

I agree but that's why I said in some capacity really as the extent at which we can with Skipp I'm unsure of. I'm not one of the ones on here who're a bit over the top with Skipp already, I like what I see but I know he has a long way to go still.

I repectfully disagree, I think it was a useful exercise and the players got a good 90 minutes under their belt and, as I posted earlier, I think this side can win the return. I won't be surprised to see much the same side but with a stronger bench.
I honestly believe winning wasn't the be all and end all of tonight's match.
