I don't agree that we aren't interested.
We went weak today (too weak) but I'm expecting a much stronger team second leg.

At least it proved dane is nowhere near ready for first time football. If he cant get q kick against them he sure as shit wont in the prem. Needs a loan imo

The kid had zero, and I mean zero service. It proved fuck all except our midfield were non existent today.

It was fun feeling proud of this club again for an entire 4 days. Nuno was arrogant enough picking that team. Not having one of Son, Bergwijn or Lucas on the bench was idiotic.

The only positives that can come from this game is that Paratici realises how urgently we need the likes of Winks, CCV and Doherty cut from this team. Utter garbage.

Behave will ya. Poor performance no doubt but the players nuno put out was correct imo. It’s a 3rd rate tournament and we have to treat in that way. Would you preferred the same 11 every week and be shagged out by January?

Are people really going to meltdown like this over a one nil conference league loss?

None of the 11 from the weekend had to fly. There's a second leg. We blooded some youngsters. Jeez, calm down.

Definitely not a meltdown. Was a very tricky game regardless (hate these horrible early away EL games) and our lineup was experimental to put it mildly.

However the performances from some of those players who cost an awful lot of money were concerning.

Second competitive game of the season, with a mashed up squad of kids, new signings and deadwood. Safe to say, I'm not going to lose sleep over this one.

It's obvious we still need to strengthen the squad, this game hasn't highlighted that anymore than before.

Oh and Gil is a fucking baller. Very excited.

Call me insane but I didn’t think Clarke did too badly when he came on. Not good but I felt you could see some ability.

So they said Doherty would be much better as a wing back with a back 3 behind him. Tonight he played in that role and whenever he got the ball he turned and played it back to Carter Vickers

Blimey, that was pretty poor.
Felt sorry for Scarlett, had absolutely no service whatsoever. There's some excuse for the youngsters, but the senior players were particularly disappointing. Carter Vickers and Winks first touches were hideous.

Add in Ndombele and it’s the entirety of the 2019 summer signings. Our recruitment was so shit for so long, it’s going to be a long road back to competing anywhere close to the top.

As much as I love Poch those were some crap parting gifts

Soe peope dont realise you cant just sling aload of players together and expect any kind of flowig performance. Even if the players are good. Its why whe clubs bringnin 7 or 8 new players its normally a total shit show for the first several months.
My other point in there is that four exceptionally experienced footballers didn’t have the professionalism to make themselves selectable by the manager while pursuing their own agendas. People shouldn’t have a go at the team put out there, they should be having a go at those missing.

So just 4 days ago we beat the most expensive squad side in football to losing to a bunch of Portuguese farmers. Some absolute dross in our squad - league 1 players at best. Nothing against kids but the likes of Winks, Davies, Gio, Doherty are as poor as you can get as a PL side.
That spursy for you mate you not realise that yet ?

As bad as anything we watched last season.

Disappointing that many of them didn't take the opportunity.

Gil, Sess(2nd half) and Clarke the only bright sparks.

I disagree with all of you saying we should have taken a stronger team. This team is fine, this team is exactly what we should be sending across europe all season, it's absolutely clear that our long term future rests heavily on trying to make top4. We need to prioritise the league and if that means risking an away game in a 2-leg tie so be it.

We absolutely should play a team like this again next week, these players need to provide a solution for us in our season, they'll be a hindrance if we need to pepper in players who played at the weekend, the players playing today need to play and be useful for something.

Next week at home, the better players can sit on the bench if we really need them but that's the extent of it for me, the squad padders need to be the ones playing in this competition and take the work load off our starters.

I have to disagree. Let’s be realistic, we will struggle to make top 4, especially if we loose Kane. We have a new manager and supposed to be going through a “rebuild”.

It would be better for us to concentrate on Cups. We’ve won nothing in donkeys years and this is a real chance to win something.

I’m not suggesting bringing our best, but there was far too much youth in that team and too much fringe deadwood. No doubt we’ll win the 2nd leg but I just wish we would show some desire to actually win a cup.

I don't know how some of you can start shitting yourselves about new signings because of tonight. I don't know how some of you feel like the good work of sunday is somehow undone because our fringe players lost an away game in a leg 2 tie.

Finally I really don't understand how some of you have supported spurs over decades and yet still act like an away leg with your reserves during the early stages of a European competition is a good barometer to judge anything.

All that matters in the playoff games is the result at the end of the tie, not individual matches, all that matters at the end of the group stage is getting through to the knockouts. It's all about the results, it provides little else.

The league games will tell us about where we're heading this season.

I don't think it proved anything, mate. It is pretty hard to impress as a 17-year-old 5"9 striker when the only service you get is longballs down the middle. He made runs and our midfield just didn't have the ability to find him.

What we learned (or already knew) from that

Doherty - nowhere near good enough
Winks - nowhere near good enough
Lo Celso - won't be troubling Alli, PEH or Skipp for a starting place any time soon
CCV - needs to be moved on
Romero - significantly below match sharpness
Gil - lacking match fitness, although not as much as Romero
Sessegnon - lacking sharpness and confidence, though one or two moments of slight promise
Scarlett - fed on scraps so absolutely no criticism, but not capable at this point of making something happen on his own. Looked his age

Generally
- If you pick an entirely changed squad, many of whom haven't played with each other, this is what happens
- Nuno went to Portugal too light. We didn't have anyone on the bench to fall back on
- Our squad depth is shite

Just to note, Sessegnon may be younger than Winks and CCV, but he's played more senior league games than them. He also was one of the more expensive players we've bought. By no means in the Clarke/Scarlett camp.

Most of them in the championship, and his PL games for Fulham were several years ago when he was a kid; so far he’s only played 12 games for us.

He had some real bright moments in today’s game, anyone writing him off based on a terrible team performance have very selective memories.

The issue withSess is, he looks no better than an average kid from our academy, but we chased him for years and paid a small fortune for him.

Our scouting the last few years at all levels has been horrendous.

no passes for sess either, cost us 25 mil, same age as haaland, and put in a pathetic display, yet to see anything in his game
