l’équipe saying it’s done for “far less than €30m” and we “could leave him there on loan”

Typical, we sign a new midfielder then send him out on loan :ROFLMAO:

Well, if we can’t afford established (read: expensive) players, let’s go bargain hunting for young talents?

Bit of a conspiracy theory BUT anyone else feel like Paratici's remit is picking up the best undervalued European talent ready for Pochettino to return when his and Nuno's contracts expire in 2023?

We seem to be focusing on super young, physical, aggressive players who might not contribute too much in the short run but have the potentially to be a serious good squad in a few years. Would make Nuno as a bit of a bridge for a couple of years make sense, and would also explain the fairly short contract length.

Loan makes the most sense for me. He's so young and we can't guarantee him consistent game time. Better to buy him while he's still affordable then let him spend another year at Metz where he'll start every week.

I actually just think it’s an attempt to get our squad younger, in general. Don’t think it’s as 4D Chess, though. Also, Nuno has shown he’s willing to trust youth at times, so really just feel like our squad got old and shitty really fast and young, hungry talent is a good way to flip that on its head.

Sending him back on loan makes no sense considering our midfield 'options' as things stand

Yeah think that's simply a conspiracy theory. Nuno himself prefers young aggressive players, his style is more defensive but it is aggressive.

Besides, the club SHOULD be focusing on these talents and profile of player, we've made some massive mistakes by focusing on talent alone and not the aggression/mentality of some.
