Interesting Capello chooses Cahill over Jones. Jones who Sir Alex bought for £16M and everyone is saying is a bargin. Wonder what that makes Cahill?

No comparison really, Jones is 6 years younger and Cahill is in the last year of his contract

spot on. Who capello picks is down to him - it doesnt mean they are better! Unless of course we all agree that Parker is better than Lampard? and Walcott better than Lennon, Johnson etc?

ok fair enough but does Cahill not look worth £15M tonight?
I think he does but guess its time to let it go.

I hope everyone's noticed how much Scotty's been blowing out his arsehole since half time.

Presumably Milner is his replacement.

Ed: Maybe not! Watch him strolling around for the next ten mins before he's replaced.

i think everyone knows he is normally worth that - but in 5 months time he will be worth half that due to his contract running down. Man City would have been able to afford that kind of price but clubs like us (and Arsenal) simply cannot afford to throw away up to £10m on a player who we can get so much cheaper in January. The problem we have is we now have a fight on to get him in Jan as many other clubs will be interested at a lower price. We did the same with Pienaar last year and got him so lets hope its the same

Game passing Parker by, he can't scurry quickly enough to get near anyone.

I've got a bad feeling you will be criticising Parker at every opportunity when it isn't even justified just to highlight your point that you dont think he is any good because your in the minority. You will be the new BC Dawson hater.

It's a shame as you generally post with alot of knowledge but to say the game is passing him by is ridiculous. He has intercepted numerous attacks and when in possession he has kept it quick and simple whilst always making himself available for an easy pass

If he is playing badly criticise away but today is not one of those days. He looks like an ideal partner for Sandro or Modric based on this performance

brett appears to love the players who dont play much - ie Kranjcar and GDS. i get the impression its just to have a dig at harry but hey ho, we re all entitled to our opinions. Parker has been solid today and done a good job imo. The player who has disappointed me the most tonight has been Ashley Young by a mile.

+1 on pretty much all of that. Brett...those anti-harry glasses must really mess your eyesight up. When he finally leaves, I imagine your world will be much liek Dorothy's when she wakes up in Oz.

Its not his best display, but ive seen him put in some real box to box midfielder performances for west ham, chelsea, charlton. Parker is a quality player no doubt, I think capello has asked him to shield the back four and not to progress too far up the pitch.

I actually think he's playing well, surprised by some of the responses. Maybe it's because he is the one holding his position, breaking up play and keeping things simple? I think that's the point of what he does though, it allows the attacking players to get on with it.

I can't see us being as vulnerable from counter attacks with Parker in the side. More so if he plays alongside Sandro.

Parker is the player we have needed for the last 10 years, a leader who can defender and a very very competent attacker. Will get the best from those around him.

Hope Harry gives him the armband

one milli your sig looks fantastic! Until Ade gets injured :(

Unless he has promised to come to us then his contract is irrelevant. We should have paid the money.

My feeling is he will be unlikely to come to us. With no transfer fee he's going to be able to negotiate high wages at other clubs.

I agree - its a risk strategy though with the finanicial restrictions of our club i guess its a risk we have to take. shame we cant just fork out the millions but thats just the way it is

Why should we be concerned with Cahill? Could have joined us, yes, but he didn't. Not point in wondering what might have been

I wouldn't go as far as saying the last 10 years. I think Carrick was the last player we had that played in a similar way to Parker, though I'd rate Parker over Carrick without a shadow of a doubt.

As for One in a Million's sig...I'd have to agree that this is the team I'd go for.

Fingers crossed Adebayor can stay injury-free until january, and we buy a decent back-up.

So we bid 12m then. I'm still not sure whether Bolton rejected it or whether Cahill did. With 12 months on his contract a team like Bolton cannot reject an offer like that
