In 09/10 Modric weighed in with 9 prem assists, and was out for 3 months too. Last season I think it was 2/3 in practically a full season when shackled with defensive responsibility. Modric will play beautifully of you played him at centre back, but he has shown where he is of greatest value to the team.

he also had two forwards to aim at in 2009/10 whereas last year he had one isolated striker as VDV was constantly missing elasewhere on the pitch

I'm all for partnering Sandro and Parker in midfield in a 4-2-3-1 but let us not forget that our most successful season in recent times was playing 4-4-2. I'm not convinced that Bale or Lennon are going to fit into a 4-2-3-1 formation and we would be relying on Adebeyor and VdV staying fit to provide the goal threat. Bale, Modric and Lennon do not provide enough goals. Signing VdV and Parker give us a lot more flexibility but we need the equivalent of a Silva, Aguero or Tevez to make 4-2-3-1 work.

Suarez!! wouldve been awesome

I just don't see HR abandoning a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 - I just don't think he has it in him. Unfortunately, if we see Sandro and Parker in the middle together, I think it's much more likely to be with Modric on the left and Bale on the right, or something similar. I really hope I'm wrong, would love to see VDV, Modric & Bale/Lennon interchanging behind Adebayor but I just think it's far too progressive under our current management. Would be very happy to be proved wrong though.

I sort of agree with that but he may just surprise us.

For me if fit King, Gallas, BAE, Modric, Bale, Parker, Sandro, VDV and Ade will play come hell or high water.Working on that assumption then Harry really doesn't have much choice but to play 4-2-3-1

----------Friedal-------------

Walker Gallas King BAE

------Parker Sandro-------

---Vdv Mods Bale----

-----------Ade-------------

To play any other shape he would need to drop BAE so that Mods could play left mid and Bale left back, which is possible, but imo unlikely. If he wants to play with a 2 it would mean dropping either VDV or BAE for Defoe, which again I just don't see.

It will be very interesting when everybody is fit.

I think he got 9 assists in his first year, despite the awful Ramos start. In 09/10 he only got a few, and about the same last year.

People are jumping on the Parker bandwagon now and tbh not convinced yet...he's game is not at the same pace intensity of Sandro and he doesn't have the passing range and speed of pass to start attacks IMO of Huddlestone. I'm quietly confident that Huddlestone's quality when fit will demand a place in our strongest 11.

Note: there will be games when Parker's qualities will be needed IE away from home but personally I can't see those when teams come to the lane and play defensively.

Oops massive cock up from me there, it was 08/09. I still believe that Modric should be freed from his restrictive role of last season in favour of a solid CM 2 though, but that convenient stat happened to be total bollocks in the end!

Am loving the thought of those 2 in partnership! Solid Spurs? Not something we're entitled to say very often!

Sandro and Parker (Huddlestone as back up) is a massively solid base to work from in a 4-2-3-1. With the options of GDS, Kranjcar, Bale, Lennon, VDV and Modric in front of them it's pretty impressive. It's called squad depth.... and it's fuc#ing deep!

Just need another striker who can lead the line, pav's OK for the moment but that is a spot that needs filling... especially if Adebayor is only a loan. Plenty were rumoured but Lucina Traore was the one we should have taken the gamble on

Sorry, BUT PAV IS ANYTHING BUT FINE...
