The Independent linking us with a move for the Palermo wonderkid. I am not sure there is much likelihood that it will happen with Palermo reported to be looking for a fee around the 30 mil euro mark but I would cream myself if we got him. Absolutely incredible talent in my mind who, if he continues to develop the way he has been so far this season, will become one of the next Argentinean superstars alongside Vietto. It would be tough to get him as he has been linked to all the top teams in Europe and is only 21, but if we made a move now we could be in with a chance. Also, he loves English football
"...And I follow the Premier League as well. All the teams charge forward and try to attack. That doesn't happen in Serie A.This is why I really like English football. A lot of teams are fighting for the title. That's the biggest difference with La Liga, where you always have the same teams challenging for the title."

Would love him but probably a pipe dream, still its nice to be linked to him by the press as it means one can dream.

One of the most closely followed and sought-after young talents in world football atm, and I think their owner said he's the best forward in Italy and that it would take something like 50m to get him away. Strange link if you ask me.

Agree, fantastic talent, but there has been a lot of talk over the last few weeks about a possible move away and a call up to the international team. I'm not sure why Palermo are dropping their price but all the recent reports seem to be suggesting something around the 30 mil mark will be enough. The fact he has actually been naming some of the supposed interested parties and talking even hypothetically about a move suggest its not completely idle chit chat by the press. Doubt he will move until the end of the season tho.

Fair enough, I had not heard that.

Really wouldn't like to see us take that gamble though, regardless of his talent. Would much rather we keep that money closer to the Isles, as I think we could get all of our needed improvements combined for under that fee. Really think we need to avoid another high price signing from Spain or Italy for the time being, especially one from South America, whose players despite their talent do I think tend to more likely struggle with the physicality of the Prem and especially the lack of sunlight. Just not a gamble worth that kind of money IMO.

Signing a player like this would be incredibly smart for Spurs to try and do at this stage. We need to look at clubs like Atletico Madrid in the way that they signed Aguero and Falcao when both were not yet household names.

Players like Dybala are quite clearly going to be world superstars and if we're going to have a shot at seeing them in a Spurs shirt need it needs to be before the elite clubs start circling.

I'm thinking if this rumour is all true, lamela's presence could be crucial.

It's one thing for Atletico to sign South American players on a trajectory to success, but another thing altogether for an English club (as we've seen with Lamela). Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. We are not a club capable of making that kind of risk for that kind of cash, and only did it last time because we had massive windfall from the Bale sale. I would be very, very surprised to see Levy do it again anytime soon, and for good reason.

Strongly disagree with that. Massively overrated imo
Wouldn't work in the EPL either.

My old man won't stop raving about him. Although we're Juve fans has was born and bred in Sicily and is also a big Palermo fan. I like Palermo but have never really followed them, so I can't say that I've seen anything of Dybala. My dad keeps going on about him.

Dont see it in this window, but his team mate Munoz would be a great signing IMO, cheap at the moment too.

He has be excellent this season for Palermo, 9 goals and 6 assists in 17 games for a 21 year old are very good numbers regardless of his overall team play which has been at times scintillating. He has steadily grown over the last few seasons for them and is really starting to come into his own this season. I really cant comment on what he was like in Argentina but i have been very impressed with his continued development at Palermo.

Looks quick, tenacious and very talented. Crazily one-footed though!

Whatever the case, we're not going to be spending 30m on a player again any time soon so I'd call this a non-starter.

Ossie do you know of any Argentine players you think we should be looking at who would fit in the EPL?

Most of them would need time to adapt. Only the ones already world class like Aguero and Di Maria can hit the ground running.

Matias Kranevitter (DLP/DM) and Joaquin Correa (AM) are ones I think we should keep an eye, although Correa has just signed for Sampdoria.

Interesting name for an Argentinian of Italian heritage. Very Germanic name.

More importantly, seems he already has a pretty strong value on transfermarkt for a young player playing in South America. What could you tell us about this guy? Is he good in the tackle, and quick in transition (hence great for Poch's system)?
