Might end up more than 3 weeks, try a couple of months, still it might be a good thing, we will have Bent and Campbell upfront for a good number of matches so we might actually strike up some sort of a front partnership, my god we need one!

....torn calf ligaments.

Just reported on SSN.

:-|

Shite. As said, Pav could easily be out for months.

It means Bus-Conductor's favourite player, Darren Bent, will get a run in the team (with only Frazier to challenge him for a striker role). And we will have no real option but to play 4-5-1...

Bollocks. Just what we didn't need. Fate realy is fucking around with us at the moment isn't it. The one department where we are already woefully short of quality just got worse.

Probably the least covered position on the pitch. Great.

The positive from that is that hopefully with a continuous run of games Bent will now find some real form in front of goal. Of course the midfield need to work out how to provide him service for that to happen though.

Partially torn ankle ligaments is going to be longer than 3 weeks for sure, that's a bad injury. Things just get worse, if Bent then gets injured we are really in the shit

Seems like you guys could well be right depending on the extent of the injury, just found this for those interested...

Ligaments are tough bands of tissue that connect bones to each other. They provide strength and support to joints. In the ankle, injuries to the ligaments, called sprains, are usually caused by unexpected twists of the joint. A sprain can be a stretch, tear, or complete rupture of one or more of the ligaments that hold the bones of the ankle joint together. Sprains are classified according to the severity of the ligament tear.

With a first degree sprain, stretching and minimal tearing cause mild pain, difficulty walking, tenderness, and swelling. There is no bruising or loss of function. Recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks.

With a second degree sprain, a tearing sensation, or a pop or snap is felt. There is swelling and tenderness in the ankle. Bruising begins 3 to 4 days after the injury. Walking may be moderately difficult. Recovery time is 4 to 8 weeks.

At the time of the injury in a third degree sprain, the joint may slip out of place and then back in. There is massive swelling, severe tenderness, and instability in the joint. Walking may not be possible. Surgery is sometimes necessary. Recovery time is 6 to 12 weeks.

confirmed on the OS as torn ankle ligaments, probably even worse.

Thanks.

Scans have revealed Roman Pavlyuchenko has suffered a partially torn ankle ligament.
The Russian forward was forced off with the injury during Sunday's home match against Hull City.
Roman will now undergo further treatment on the ankle after specialists declared him unfit to play for the next three weeks.

big shame re Pav - if it is only 3 even 4 weeks that may not be too bad as it gives him a chance to rest a little after a long long season and almost two of the weeks are international weeks anyway

hopefully he'll only miss two games

EDIT - just caught up on some of the worst prognosises (spelling?) - if it's anything over a month then of course it's terrible news

Lennon is injured too - maybe that was the reason JR took him off - if it was then some of the criticism that came his way about the sub should be retracted/reassessed

well I guess 4-5-1 is gonna happen a fair bit - like it or not

ok GDS time to step forward now - not v Stoke as I think he'll be jet lagged but thereafter we're gonna need some big performances from him
ditto modric - maybe it's time to play him as a No.10

ok one slight straw to clutch at - he desperately needed a rest after playing nearly a whole season in Russia.

I think we will see a much better and sharper player when he is back.

But in the meantime we are F---ed!
