Villas-Boas was sacked by Chelsea in March with the Blues on the verge of elimination from the Champions League and struggling in the race for a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.
“No [it wasn't a surprise to see Villas-Boas return to management], because André showed he is a great manager before he came to us, that is why the club brought him in,” Cech told the Independent.
“We were doing the right things on the training ground but we were not able to transfer this into games.
“It became an issue because we were not able to find the reasons for that, but I believe he will have a different story with Spurs.”
I thought it was interesting to get the backing off of players who supposedly thought he was crap....
