If Lenglet is not staying then we need 3 centre backs really - which of course will never happen.
Not if Conte is happy to keep Davies and Dier as 2 signings gives us 5 (assuming we sell Tanganga and Sanchez)which should be enough. Although maybe he keeps Sanchez too but as long as we get a first choice LCB and CCB should be enough. If we signed Lenglet I'm sure we would let Davies go and personally I would do that.

He seems like the most likely candidate at this point
Agree. N'Dicka looks to be going to Arsenal, Bastoni loves Inter too much and Gvardiol is a pipedream at this point. Reckon we'll end up with this guy (If Conte does stay of course)

Looks a very good player. Still very young too. Maybe this is the kind of thing AC was talking about with regards transfers, same with Ounahi links - in buying young guys to develop and not getting the actual ready made starter?

Thought this guy looked great at the WC. Everything you want from a wide CB; aggressive, mobile, comfortable on the ball and capable of bringing the ball out when the opportunity is there.

Given that Bastoni/Gvardiol will be out of our reach IMO I would be looking to get an agreement in place with Leverkusen ASAP for the summer before other clubs start sniffing.

I’ve seen a bit of him and been very impressed. Would anyone that watches Bundesliga more often be able to say if he could play in a 2 CB formation?

If we do get him I just hope conte doesn’t see it as another “club” signing.

I wonder if Conte would class him more like a Deki type signing who he would be willing to play despite being young?

He may only be 20 (turns 21 next week) but after this season he will have had 2 full seasons in the Bundesliga and played in the CL and Europa League, as well as the World Cup (also has 24 full international caps already).

So he is young but with quite a lot of experience.

Youngest first team player he bought that I can remember is Hakimi who was 22 at the time I believe. He definitely liked Bastoni who was even younger, If he comes I think it will be approved by Conte. Probably not his first choice though.

Would be great to get another high quality young CB
My frustration with Spurs is we sometimes make a mistake in the transfer market and then back away from that strategy. When we signed Davison Sanchez it was 100% the right transfer at the time. Sanchez didn't work how we wanted but we didn't bother trying to sign another emerging CB talent again until Romero, much to the detriment of our team.

In reality we should have cashed in on Sanchez a few seasons ago and gone again. We let the defence get stale and have no choice for the next one to work which is alot of pressure.

Would you not say Foyth and Rodon both counts as 'emerging talents'?

Is he better than Ndicka who's just about out of contract?
