Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wants his side to appoint an “ambitious” new manager. Spurs are looking for a permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese’s sacking last month and are understood to have compiled a shortlist.

Understood to have compiled a shortlist?! You'd have thought that was I place before Ghenghis Baldness sacked the chosen one.

As I've said in the next manager thread, journalists don't know what's going on regarding the new manager. Easy dig though I suppose.

I don't really follow the next manager thread as its 1 big guessing game, with more repeats than Only Fools and Horses.

I was having a dig, but it's pretty obvious there's a shortlist. Unless they mean they have shortened the initial list to a few probables

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Have a look at @Trix post from this morning on the next manager thread. According to the info he has received, the list is very short as in one person and obviously that ties in with the info that JJ have a while back.

It would probably be fair to presume that an initial shortlist has been gradually reduced down - possibly with additions also made - since it was originally drawn up. For a start, I like to think Nagelsmann was included until he signed a contract with Bayern.

Anything can be obvious if it fits the narrative you want to use it for. Doesn't make it true.

That's the one thing I've worked out from many years of posting stuff on here.

I'm.not following, miscomm here I think. It was just a light hearted dig at a journalist whose come.up with some generic blah on the back of a players generic comments. Have a good day!

So there isn't necessarily a shortlist?
Are we moving to a players' co-operative model? Fantastic!

I've never understood this obsession with managers - they sack people and generally make lives a misery.

Does he mean ambitious in style of play, I’d assume all managers are ambitious in regards of winning matches.

@TheChosenOne ? Was the step up from podcaster too great?

Big question now is whether an ambitious manager needs Spurs.

Not for me.
It's a poisoned chalice. As numerous managers, caretaker managers, intermediate managers and taxi drivers can confirm.

There's no way he even knows what a podcast is. Unless it's a farming term in deepest darkest Eire.

You missed this ?

I agree with him but find the comment strange while Ryan Mason still has an interest.

This comment from Hojbjerg is exactly the reason I'd rather not have Potter. I read an interview where he spoke at length about his philosophy and explained that his focus is not on winning, it's about improving as people and as players. Whilst that's commendable from a spiritual and holistic approach as a club we fans want to play in style and win trophies. I fear with Potter we'd be nothing more than a top 4 team year after year without trophies
