Fickle fickle fans some of you. Now it wouldn't be safe for me to post in this thread my feelings (in words) towards that first 30 minutes of football - im pretty sure id get banned for overuse of some words. But lo and behold, I knew spurs would come back and I kept faith in the team for the full 90 minutes.

Yes, pavlyuchenko looked wasteful at times, and some of the comments berating him in the match thread that ive read before his goal were just laughable - sound like women on your period some of you.

It was a very emotional game, but that is what we have come to expect as spurs fans and it is the reason why we love football.

At WHL it will be nervy, tense, bitterly frantic and possibly unbearably unwatchable - but have faith in these players and get behind them and the manager. They DO care.

Get behind your team - not your computer screens.

Unfortunately there seems to be very few fans on here who seem to hold this view

We always have bad games, and I think people just post in frustration after we have them. It should calm down again tomorrow. I don't think people really forget what we've accomplished with this team to get to this stage in the Champions League.

We'll be well up for it at the Lane. The place will be rocking. We wont b e nervous of them a 2nd time. We're on real grass and we'll be confident now. If we blow them away, the fans will be talking about going far in the Champions League.

Cant agree with you more biglad I bit my lip in the match thread, yes the perfomance was poor but ome of the comments sounded like they were bing made by a 2yo who just dropped his lolly on dog shit.

I think i've said all i need to say on this in the match thread

But yep, agree with OP. Some here are far too quick to criticise and lay into the players they've never liked when things go wrong.

Here's to a large victory next week, although knowing Spurs, it may well be a one nil 90th minute winner....

This is by far the biggest game I felt ever in my time supporting spurs - I was a bag of nerves before kick off and could barely stay seated as I watched the game. It wasnt the best performance no, we can all see that - we were slow out the traps, looked shaky on the ball & surface, they closed our midfield down (modric in particular) extremely well and looked really strong on the attack - so fair play to them.

But that is football, you just have to stick by your side - redknapp wasnt equally as impressed as some of us fans and im sure he vent his frustration to them at HT.

We need to fix up thats for sure, but it doesnt start with the sales of Corluka, Bassong, Dawson, BAE, Palacios, Defoe, Pav and Keane as some seem to think in the match thread.

At least there are some sensible people here who can remain calm amidst this performance, hats of to you guys

I agree but it's important to remember that different people react differently to different situations.

I've always been the intense, nervous kind of fan who only enjoys games when we are comfortably winning or the game is over. I sing throughout parts of the game but usually I'm quite quiet and tense.

Others are jubilant and sing and support throughout the whole game and try to lift the team when they are down.

There are some who are passive, aggressive who act exactly how they are feeling at the time. They'll berate and hate a player who they deem to be playing poorly or not trying hard enough and then cheer for him the next minute when he scores. They'll cheer passionately for a player one game then get pissed off with him the next when he isn't playing well.

We're all different especially when watching or playing sport. Some of the most passive people I know are really aggressive on the pitch and vice versa. I'm not sure these fans really are fickle they often just react very differently at the time to how they feel when they have calmed down a bit. I'm not sure all of them are actually fickle, they just direct their emotions in a different way.

I agree, you can't rule out a player's use on one game, but they can still be criticised for their performance in the game at hand.

The likes of Bassong and Palacios were just out of the game completely IMO. Sure, Bassong got the goal, but for me, he was largely to blame for two of the three goals and constantly put Dawson under alot of pressure due to his mistakes.

I'm just glad we played like that now and got it out of our system with time to come back. In a way it would be typical that it works in our favour. We could've won tonight and then gone back to the Lane expecting a comfortable ride. Then go on and get suckerpunched. Instead we find ourselves in a must win situation at home, and the way we responded in that situation at home to Arsenal and Chelsea last season gives me great hope.

Well, despite being told I was wrong in the mtach thread I never criticised any players myself.

Butm I maintain that some fans need to be given the benefit of the doubt. The have seen so many false dawns with Spurs that its understandable that they can become impatient and frustrated when it looks like its going to be "same old, same old".

I also don't accept the view of some who say you are a bad fan if you think like that. On the contrary a fan who doesn't really care doesn't get so frustrated when things go wrong. A fan who desperately wats succes does. For that reason I really think that these fans should not be told off for expressing their frustration in teh heat of the moment, especially during the first European Cup game of most of our lives.

I agree. I'm the kind of fan who easily keep quiet or contemplative during a game and keep a calm head which makes it easy for me to sit back and tell the ones who talk negatively in the heat of the movement that they are fickle or not real fans.

We're all here which means we're all fans who wants the same thing. Football is a passionate game and that comes out in different ways no need to berate each other.

People say things in the heat of the moment/in frustration. It's good that we have this forum to vent our anger.

It saves people being at home having to kick the cat or slam the doors, or whatever they do when their angry!

It's words floating in the ether of cyberspace at the end of the day. So what????

Ah....it's I'm a better supporter than you are thread. How lovely. The hypocrisy that is being shown by a few posters is not lost on me. And will be locked away for the next time you say the first fucking word against anyone at this club. Getting all uppity because some of our own were so distraught over the beginning belies the fact that you want nothing to do with the community, which is what supporters are supposed to be about - not just the 25 man squad.

I'm sorry if you're feelings were hurt, but proclaiming your greatness at not being upset doesn't make you better than anybody. And it especially doesn't make you any different, nor better than the despondent reactionaries your lot is railing on non-stop.

Indeed. I would go as far as to say that when certain people berate other fans they are dividing the support for the common cause, not enhancing it.

Probably just as crazy to turn on each other as turn on the team. It's been quite a night, we're still in the hunt and we have a huge Champions League night ahead of us next week at White Hart Lane. Wouldn't swap it for anything.

Well, maybe a lead :)
