As we're halfway roughly through the season, I just thought who you'd vote for player of the season at this stage if you had to vote now.

For me, its either between Defoe or Lennon, both been very consistent this season. Defoe for his goals and work rate, and Lennon, for his creativity and flair and improvement in his game.

For me its Lennon, I feel after his great start to his career for us in his 1st 1-2 seasons, defenders got a bit wise to his game and found ways to keep him quiet.
Towards the end of last season, and so far this season, he has seemed to have adapted his game to be more involved being able to draw players in and out to find space for himself to beat his man again.
His final ball has also improved, but not only that, he is thinking about what ball to play into the box. Before, he just tried to cross it fast, or high in any area. Now, he is looking for players in space, being Crouch at the back post, Defoe on the 6 yard box, or pulling it back to Huddlestone on the edge of the box for examples.

This has benefited him getting more assists this season, and creating more opportunities.

I love the little fella and hope his form continues.

Defoe for me.

14 Premiership goals from open play before the turn of the year and from only 16 starts is exceptional.

Could have gone for anyone really. Palacios is still brilliant and a breath of fresh air for us Spurs fans, while Gomes has shown his critics what he can do by saving us many points. Can't complain about Defoe with 14 goals already as well.

Lennon got it for me, just about though, purely because he's been vastly improved, made himself England's first choice right midfielder and his defending eases the pressure on Corluka. 8 assists so far and also chipped in with a few goals.

Gomes has been most consistent with Dawson most improved. Only reason I couldn't go for Defoe was his sending off against Pompey.

Lennon for me. He is such a constant threat and has created so much for us this season. If he keeps up this form then there can be no doubt he's the best winger in the Premiership.

Well in terms of the performance in games actually played then it would be Dawson, Modric and Lennon.

If I go spastic for a bit and blindly state that no player can win this if they haven't played in 3/4 of the games (even if they were injured through no fault of their own) then it's probably Lennon. Defoe, Bassong, Gomes, BAE all in with a shout

Lennon for me, he has been a joy to watch this season, he is looking more and more like a 'complete' RW now, arguably the best in the EPL. JD ran him close though.

Lennon. But in truth everyone (Bentley and Pav excluded) have given to the team effort! Exciting times at the Lane and long may it continue!

Very tough to decide.

My heart says Gomes, my head says Lennon or Defoe.

Gomes won us the games at Portsmouth, Blackburn and at home to Sunderland he was triffic as well.

Lennon has been on fire since the off, with only one or two quiet games, while Defoe has 14 goals in 16 starts. He could potentially be knocking on the door for 30!!

Kranjcar has also been excellent since he came to the club at the beginning of the season and filled in really well for Modric.

Bassong, Dawson, King (when he has played) have all been excellent along with Ekotto (bar the Everton game) Charlie, Hudd and Palacios too.

Really don't know who to vote for!!

Lennon. But I would like to give SOME honours to Crouchy, who has been very good this season and won himself a starting place. Was talking to a mate yesterday about how much he improves the team.

 to peter crouch!

PS: Although i rated him at liverpool and pompey, i never realised how effective and good he can be at times!

Lennon, theres a sense of anticipation when he gets the ball, simply giving it to him brings ppl to their feet, defoes goals are great but how many has lennie made and how many does he have without hull and wigan? Across the whole 20 games its lennie, with honourable mentions for gomes, defoe and niko.

I'm going for the unsung hero that is Peter Crouch - without a doubt in my mind a huge reason we are starting to pick up tough points on the road with a series of gut busting performances leading the line for us - don't think I've seen a player work so tirelessly for the team like Crouch does and he has to drag himself off the pitch at the end of each game.

His lay off play has been excellent, he always wants the ball despite taking a battering every game and it's his donkey work that allows the Lennons, Defoes and Kranjcars to flourish.

Unfashionable choice, but I don't see us sitting 4th wthout Crouch's contribution.

This is tough, yesterday I said to my Dad Lennon has to be a shoe in for our player of the year this season, but now I've stopped to consider it, I'm not so sure.

Gomes has been outstanding, for me there is no better in the league at the moment.

Bassong has been a rock, the new guy coming into a defence, has not looked out of place once, and has really been the mainstay of a very stable centre back pairing.

Huddlestone has come on leaps and bounds and is a big part of the reason that we are doing so well. When he's in the team we play better, he is the engine room, not an all action type, but keeps us ticking over nicely.

Lennon, only Fabregas I believe has more assists than him, he's torn each left back he's played against a new one, and he's learnt how to cross a ball. Marvellous.

Defoe has been lethal. Almost unplayable at the times, his finishing was never in question, but he now really puts a shift in, is more intelligent in his running and positioning, and is now so much stronger and able to hold the ball up and bring others into play.

Admirable mentions must go to Dawson, Kranjcar and Modric, who have all played brilliantly whenever called upon, but not really played enough to merit being called player of the season so far and Assou-Ekotto, who other than the Everton game has hardly put a foot wrong all season. Well within all their capabilities to be in contention by the end of the season though.

Lots of players have shined for us this season (Gomes, Defoe, Dawson, Hudd). Over the whole half season it has to be Lennon. He is absolutely undefendable. Not only his pace but his ball control. Sometimes I've noticed other teams putting four players on him (like West Ham did) and he still comes out with the ball. I don't think there is any left back in the world that can handle him.

Also this season as Donny said, he's the complete package. No more running at lost causes (he knows when to run and when to lay the ball back), his crossing is decent and his finishing has sharpened. He is an immense player.

I've gone for Dawson, for taking the opportunity to prove just how good he really is.

Just wish people would shut up about him improving, he was a pivotal part of our meanest defence in years alongside Stalteri, Leapy and a combination of King/Naybet/Gardner ffs! :bang:

Me too, good post. Defoe and Lennon have contributed to more goals and have both been magnificent, as has Krancjar but Crouch puts in hard work in every game, uses the ball well and is a great foil for our attacking players as well as getting goals too.
