ok, i admit have never heard of him before we were linked and saw the usual you tube videos etc. Was just impressed but his clinical finishing and his strength to hold off a player, especially for someone so young.
Sorry re-read my comment and realised it sounded patronising. Didn’t mean to be 👍🏻

Honestly he looks like he should be a great fit for Ange - active in the box, plays on the shoulder, looks to be good in the air, and looks like he should have loads of energy in the press.

*Jose & Conte* stopped us investing this way.

But yes glad we are back to investing this way, it’s sensible, it’s fun and exciting and it futureproofs us.
Sorry but this just isn't true. Jose maybe but under Conte we brought in Sarr, udogie and Spence.

Seems like Paratici was laying the ground work for this stuff and maybe now we're starting to reap the rewards. Let's hope hes decent and not the type Sugar was referring to in the 90s

Rosario central is a mad name for a football team.

Sounds like a stop you'd see on a train map.
That’s because it’s named after a railway line. Football spread into Argentina from British railway workers who went over there to build the railway network. Argentina exported beef to the U.K. in the late 19th century and early 20th century. So British companies had a vested interest in developing the railways there.

It’s also why we have Fray Bentos meat pies, which is a town in Urugauy.

Ah! Thank you for that.

It's a pretty interesting direction we have gone with our recruiting strategy...young players, largely unknown outside their home leagues.....fascinating to see how this turns out, particularly with a signing like Veliz that is completely outside the box.

There was an Argentinian pundit on wearetottenham tv who said he raised an eyebrow when he heard the Tottenham links as he found it a little surprising.....will be very exciting to see what our scouting team have seen there and how it pans out.

Absolutely worth the risk at that cost, in today’s market. I hope we do more signings of this type.

This is interesting, checking it out now! Thanks

I know Gabbanini was at Watford, looks to be from 2015 - 2022.

During that time they signed:
- Joao Pedro from Fluminense bought for 9.9m pounds sold for 4x value
- Richarlison from Fluminese - sold for 4x value and bought for around 10.3m pounds

Seems to have struck gold twice there. This seems like a similar type deal.

Alejo Veliz stats:
Goals 11
Expected Goals (xG)8.44
Scoring frequency 163 min
Goals per game 0.5
Shots per game 2.7
Shots on target per game 1.2
Big chances missed 5
Goal conversion 18%
Free kick goals 0
Free kick conversion 0%
Goals from inside the box 10/52
Goals from outside the box 1/9
Headed goals 4
Left foot goals 0
Right foot goals 7
Penalty won 1

He doesn’t really score from outside the box. Just 1/9 attempts.
Score 4 from his 11 goals from header. 0 goal from PK. A pure poacher.

He will combine well with Kulu, Porro, Perisic (if not sold) as they like to cross the ball.

In WC U20 the wingers Aguirre, Gauto fed him with crosses

He scores 11 from 8.44 XG. That’s very good one. He doesn’t waste chances.

I think this is exactly the profile Ange wants.

I just watched Kyogos goals at Celtic last season - 34 in all competitions, only 1 came from outside the box. Almost all were Pocher’s goals.

Excited to have bright prospect like this aboard the Ange train. But another part of me is kinda like feeling disappointed for our academy lads like Scarlet and Parrott which will mean they are further down the order..
