So if we bought him from the German league who hadn’t started their league it would be fine but not because Argentina is midway through their season?
Yes 👍🏻

Because the Argentinian league is on at the same time as our season will be it counts.
Their season finishes in December

If Kane goes and Rich is out I'd expect Ange to go with Son up top anyway. We've got loads of wingers and Son can do a job there.

Throwing Veliz straight in at the deep end could backfire on many levels given the spotlight would be right on him and he's only just arrived.
or it could work the other way, be someone the opposition wasnt expecting and work in our favour.
But you are right, Son would start as striker without Kane, and i assume Peresic would go LW

Also got Scarlett too, who would expect to be in the pecking order above him.

Is he in the squad? I don't see anything on the website. Would be good to have him on the bench, if possible.

There's been absolutely 0 content about him after he signed. Maybe he flew back to Argentina to sort some shot out before returning...

the rules have changed

[...] clubs can now register players who do not meet the GBE criteria. Teams in the Premier League and Championship will be able to add four such players to their squads, while League One and Two teams will be allowed two.

From what I understand, he would still need a work permit. The new rules just make it easier to get one if they don't meet the old criteria.

I think the person you're replying to was asking if it's been granted yet

Maybe he just did his interview as posted by the official site, and is now just getting his head down, cracking on with training and settling in whilst awaiting his work permit being granted 🤷🏻‍♂️

The behind the scenes video showing his medical etc. (Combined video with VDV) Was posted on the spurs YouTube channel earlier today but I think there has been some other stuff going on today so most will have missed it.

Tottenham also signed 19-year-old Veliz this summer from Rosario Central after he made a big impact in the Argentinean top flight but Postecoglou urged caution to anyone who thinks the Argentina U20 striker is ready for Premier League football this year.

"It will be a while for him, I think. We've just got to let him settle, he's come halfway around the world," said the Spurs head coach. "He's a young guy, it's a fairly different level. He's one we'll invest in in the long-term but I wouldn't expect him to see any minutes in the first part of the season."

Although we’re all excited to see Véliz that does make me more comfortable that we must be confident in getting another forward.

Richi, Son, Kulu, Solomon, Perisic, Scarlett is not enough

EDIT: and Gil, thanks @Snuzzy

Which goes to show you that we’re a Richy injury away from HAVING to play Son centrally, else we’re very quickly down to Scarlett as the main striker option.

I'd rather us play Son centrally with Perisic on the left and have Richy as the backup from the start to be fair!
