It's not exciting but why does everyone assume already he's a bad signing and done without Conte aproving?
Trix mentioned he wasn't a target at the start of the window and we only jumped in because his agent came to us. To me that screams last minute opportunity buy. I guess we need to see if Zaniolo is still coming although im very doubtful, can't see us bringing in 2 attackers unless i guess if Gil is going. Even then tho.

It might not be the case....

But I think people are a little mad that it is a scattergun approach that only came about because he was offered by an agent on a decent deal. Not that the manager targeted him. Not that we think he is the best player we can attract. Not because he was part of a recruitment plan. He was just a cheap deal that fell in to Levys inbox.

If this turns out to not be the case when our esteemed ITKs provide, if they feel fit, more background information then perhaps we do see it for a better transfer for our Managers plans that we are immediately thinking.
But that's putting two and two together and getting five. Son was abysmal again yesterday. Richarlison doesn't really work in that role. The need for a LW is there, and this deal plugs that gap until the summer. Short and long term needs aren't always the same. Catering to long term needs with short term solutions is sometimes needed, and it's the kind of pragmatism we should applaud.

Makes a lot of sense if the rumours of Sporting wanting Gil on loan to close out the Porro deal are true.

If that’s the case then it sounds like a win/win; seal Porro while giving Gil an extended run for experience while we cover with a CL proven squad option.
The rumours that started here in defence of this deal?

I'm all for signing a CB and CM as a priority, but this guy is such an upgrade to the current nothingness of Gil/Moura.
Maybe the club also feels that Kulu may be suspended? Not that anyone was happy with the Kulusevski signing at first.

Listening to an Everton Space on twitter with El Bobble. Danjumas agent played Everton all along. Danjuma have been in Liverpool since the weekend and done a medical, interview etc. and he Everton thought he would train with them today. But he never turned up today and then Everton found out that his agent never sent in the documents to the FA yesterday. Meanwhile Danjumas agent had done a deal with Spurs and now Everton are fuming!

This club is a joke. I know nothing about this dude but, from what I've read here, it sounds like he had one good CL run. So one good season. Is this how we close the gap on the top teams? Is this guy destined for greatness? Or is he another bargain that can do a job?

Nah, screw this.

It is a fair point. However, we know what Danjuma was like in the EPL: 14 games, no goals, no assists. He's only had two good seasons in his career: one in the Championship and the other in La Liga, where Gil, Emerson, and Requillion were highly rated. At least Bentancur had a ton of appearances for a top team in Serie A, UCL, and internationally. Villa were/are on the up compared to the two teams at the bottom of the league.

With any signing, I guess there's a chance they'll do absolute bits, and I will hold judgement, but let's not try to pretend Danjuma was ever the first choice and is a genuinely great player who is going to come in and do anything than come off the bench for a few minutes here and there. If Richarlison can't get a run of games, Danjuma will more than likely be doing nothing. Though, as ever, I hope I am 100% wrong and he comes in and does a Kulu on the left side.

We were competing against Aston Villa last season for Bentancur.

Now he's one of the best midfielders in the league.

I suspect Conte won't mince his words in the press if this is another club signing. I'll reserve judgement either way until we hear it from him.

Right.
So, we essentially have no idea if this is
Option A: agent to levy, get a bargain, screw over someone (anyone, just so you win), and, then drop interest in zaniolo

Option B: we scouted him before, son clearly isn't playing onto form, so solid squad player, and a loan with option (at most) so relatively low risk. Loan out Gill (maybe to help with porro). Still get zaniolo.

Obviously were all burning rage and assuming it's option a. Conte walks. We carry on the merry hour round.
But if its option b, we have football people who know what a 6 goal in CL player would bring, and, it's an opportunity to try out getting proper cover for son, utd be very shrewd. (so obviously not that, we're not allowed nice things)
