IDK why but I associate it with Ziegler.

Not been a particularly good number for us...
Bale worked out kind of OK ;). I always had high hopes for Ziegler. Just googled and found out he's now 37 and still playing in the Swiss Super League.

Can someone point me to all these posts saying he's rubbish, because barring literally one or two posts out of hundreds I haven't seen any.?‍♂️
Have concerns = People are saying he's shit.

Have positive thoughts = People are bigging them up.

Thats how it works around here.

When he is in form and in the right system he is really good. Definitely has lots of upside, still has decent stats this season even though he doesn't play much. Even if he flops I can see why we would want him (other than panicking and taking a cheap loan).

Virtually every comment I've seen has been happy enough with the ability of the player just questioned the nature of it given it looks like we hit the panic button. I really like the idea of son being taken out the team if needed or alternatively this deal may shove a proverbial rocket up his behind and kick him into form. But AD clearly wasn't the no1 target coming into Jan.

I get the issues with it not being part of the original plan but I also think you can give some props for seeing an issue in Son’s form, lack of attacking depth/options and lack of players with 1v1 ability, seeing Danjuma available at what is a very good deal and being decisive to make it happen.

How people look at it is up to them but I’m happy with the player, I’m happy he fixes clear problems we’ve had all season and I’m happy once an obvious good deal for a player that sorts those issues appeared we made it happen quickly. There has also been info that we’ve looked at Danjuma in the past, so it’s not like he’s a totally random pick from us, he’s obviously a player we’ve had in mind previously, moved on for whatever reason (probably too expensive after a really good season last year) and then been made aware that he’s available on a pretty much no lose situation and decided we don’t want to miss the opportunity. We historically definitely need to plan better but it seems we have fairly concrete targets for RWB (Porro), CB (Hincapie) and GK (Raya/Pickford HG) so I’m more than cool with us pulling the trigger on an opportunistic deal with that in mind.

The only valid drawback would be if this effected us getting Zaniolo and it seems like we’re rightly biding our time with that one to reduce the risk of the deal, we’re offering better terms than Milan and he’s not going to go Bournemouth, so in terms of our side of things we’re doing fine, if he wants to go to Milan over us then it’s something we can’t control but so far I can’t see a problem with how we are handling that deal at all

I thought Ziegler was excellent for us. When we had him on the left and Simon Davies on the right I reckon we were one of the best balanced sides around. Ziegler got the worst dead leg ever, and spent months with an open wound draining it, and wasn't quite the same after that, IIRC.
Edit - Ignore that, I'm talking bollocks, I was thinking of Ziege!

Wonder if there's any mileage in him playing at LWB a bit (since it's pretty much LW now) being as Perisic and Sessegnon aren't exactly tearing it up.

Some suggested attitude problems that dont really make him sound like a Conte type of guy. Late to meetings etc Probably already been covered?

Think we've been looking for another lwf for a while (the Diaz gazzumping) and I guess this lad, while maybe not initially on our radar, kinda fell into our lap.
Can't really have a pop at the club for taking what is a risk free chance, as long as Conte is happy with it.

Looks to be an exciting player and a good addition to the squad, so fingers crossed it's a success.

There was quite a lot of criticism that we didn't have a plan when we missed Diaz and switched to Kulu, so maybe we have a list of requirements and a bit of fluidity about when we address them.
Like, if an opportunity presents itself, we'll have a pop even if it wasn't what we'd originally planned.

(Still wish we'd go for a bloody defender though!).

I find it strange that there are some who dont see any advantage in this. This is a January window where you need one or two to beef up the squad and we are on track to get them sorted.

I dont see Man United questionaing the Weghorst loan.

I think an astute loan deal which allows us to strengthen in the area which even I deemed to be of priority - RWB.

Im optimistic Danjuma will add something to the team and squad and if nothing else will allow us to rotate with Son and even free up Rich to play as a 9 and have Danjuma on the left. Besides - I love the name - Danjuma.

There was this statistical review on Tottenham Away you tube channel doubting him...

The nub is that his best is in second tier comps and that wasn't so good to translate up to the prem (eg compared championship goals to players like Mitrovic). Also said that his goal return in la liga was in bunches against low ranked sides... so doesn't look good on close analysis.

I have no idea myself, just haven't seen this argument on here, so thought it might be interesting.l to some.

Do you have a source for this?
I was listening to a podcast - bear in mind I listen to these all night and drift in and out of sleep - and the very clear view from one journalist (Portuguese?) was that he had fallen out with some of his teammates, caused a few problems, and was a bit arrogant. Please don't ask me which one - it's all a jumble in my head.

This is the advantage of the structure of the current deal. He’s got six months to make an impression, no time to be difficult
