2.5mm loan with the option to purchase an experienced forward in his prime for a reasonable fee is great business.

If 2.5mm has ate too far into our transfer budget to sign Porro and Zaniolo, we were never signing them anyways. It’s a 2.5 million gamble for Christ’s sake.

Gotta love when our fans are moaning for not signing any players and then freak out as soon as we do smart business. Are any news outlets even reporting that the Zaniolo deal is off?
I and many other posters have said we are happy with the signing of it doesn’t impact the other business.
If we can’t afford 2.5 million something is seriously wrong.
It will be frustrating if we bring in a player the manager doesn’t want over one he does.

Bigger clubs than us were after him last season. Has he not been playing this season?

Why are people acting like we’ve convinced Aaron Lennon to come out of retirement and we’re signing him?

Say what you want about the whole ‘does Conte want him’ and panic buying stuff, and you may prefer Zaniolo, but we’re not signing some random shit player for fucks sake.

Maybe, who knows? Trossard's link seemed to be us trying to get him on the cheap than any real interest if his agent was to be believed. IMHO, a short-term opportunistic 'solution' is the enemy of a long-term plan. Has it ever really worked? At the end of the day, I have no issue with us signing him, and if Conte is cool with him and actually plays him, then it's all gravy. Time will tell, but given Richarlison, Spence, Bissouma, Skipp, and Gil rarely get chances even when it's clear the first XI needs freshening up, I can't see Danjuma playing much, especially so if Conte didn't want him. But I'll repeat: I'm excited to see what Dan can do and I hope he gets the opportunity to stake a claim.
Given Son's age, LW was always going to be on the table at some point.
A loan has no downside other than a small financial one, and yet all people do is complain. He might not play much, but at least we'll have some squad depth. And attacking squad depth has been an issue this season. We can then send him back after the season.

From Opta: Since the start of last season, Arnaut Danjuma is one of only two La Liga players - along with Vinícius Júnior - to have scored 10+ goals with both his left (10) and right foot (12) across all competitions.

Our bench has pretty much had 0 attackers for a few months and this will hopefully allow us to rotate Son.

With the rumour of the loan with option, could it be a case of like for like accounting for Villareal. The get rid of Danjuma and replace with Lo Cels9, zero loss or gain for either side
Hasnt this kind of thing been a problem for a certain someone ?

Hopefully Danjuma will be a success at Spurs if this gets finalised. But I think it's reasonable for fans to wonder what this says about our strategy. You can see in some sides, Arsenal being the obvious one at the moment, that they buy players for particular systems and there's a direction and logic you can follow. What does signing Danjuma tell us about what Conte/Paratici/Levy are planning ahead?

No much is my current answer. We have major issues to solve in our manager's 343 system and I don't think Danjuma addresses any of them. With one exception - we've had very few attacking options on the bench and it's a good idea to address this. But it wouldn't be a first order of business this January.

And why wait til he's had his pictures taken at Everton? It's like they have a moneyball list of players and then act at the last moment every time. After that slapdash approach, they hope it all fits together, say it's all part of a strategic plan, and fumble along as normal.

It feels like he's the best possible random cheap player we can get though.

To me, it feels like DL is thinking Zaniolo might be too expensive, then subsequently an agent has offered us this deal and DL has panicked after last night's chants and thought "If I don't go for him now, he'll go elsewhere and if I have to pull out of the Zaniolo deal then we're looking at nobody or players like Dan James on loan, which is going to go down like a fart in a lift with the fans"

Because Conte and Paratici want him and most fans want our manager to get the players he wants most.
I guess we should all be supportive for when he asks for Danny Drinkwater next? Conte is not infallible and has a history of asking for absolutely crap players from time to time. Should be kept in check especially since it seems like he's gunning to leave in the summer anyways.

I see this more like player has panicked to go to a club where manager who wanted him is sacked. Yes, it seems opportunistic. So, is most January deals. Only last Jan, Liverpool didnt buy Luis Diaz until we almost got them under their noses.

I just think stars aligned with unable to make Roma accept loan+option for Zaniolo and we moved here.

While I am fine with this, I just hope , Conte plays him and not rot in stand like Spence
