I agree we have no idea. I hope he was. There’s a good bet he wasn’t very high on the list tho as we were very clearly content for him to go to Everton until his agent called us last minute. Much like our lowball offer for Trossard and our loan for Lenglet when we couldn’t get who we wanted for CD.

With Paratici, I agree with choices of manager but as far as players I disagree with your assessment tbh. Really the only player he’s bought that failed hard so far is Bissouma. There is a very strong argument to say Royal would have been a good signing for a defensive back 4 it’s just Conte’s tactics that he doesn’t suit at all. Gil and Sarr are 21 and 20 and are very much ones for the future but thus far they look like talents and nobody should be writing off players that young. Beyond that he’s also wanted us to get players like Kim and Kvara who are now at Napoli and tearing it up. I also agree that he has always struggled to shift players even at juve but that doesn’t affect how he judges players. I’m also not sure why him going in the summer should affect his scouting ability.

I have no dislike for Danjuma, he’s a solid player who I think some are over exaggerating his ability and others are being overly critical. He’s a good dribbler who’s fast and can play LW and CF. He can be excellent when he’s on his game but he can also hold on to the ball to long and run down blind allies.

Really I’d have been happy to get him if he was who we had wanted from before the window. But the fact we signed him how we have suggests to me that he is a complete last minute desperation stop gap. It will be very interesting to see how he does and if Conte puts him above Gil in the pecking order. I still hope we can get Zaniolo for Conte as they are different players who play in different positions, Danjuma for example is not going to help us play 352 where as Zaniolo could.

And just for the record, I want him to do well and I hope can re find his form from last season.
Danjuma is a very odd fit though isn't he?

He's a LW. And if a out of form Son isn't going to be dropped for our 60m left sided attacker in Richarlison, then I'm not sure where this guy fits.

All very odd IMO and makes very little sense.

Well the whispers are that he'd been speaking to Lampard, and he'd convinced him to come and how he planned to use him etc, and then he was sacked. He didn't want to go to a club fighting relegation when he didn't even know if he was going to play. Which I guess is fair enough if it's only a 6 month loan.

It's more concerning from our side of the fence than his imo.
If it's about playing time only Trix, I'd love to know what guarantees we have given him.

As you say though a 6 month loan is not resolving our long term situation at all, and is merely a Levy sticking plaster

If it’s just a loan there is nothing to worry about here.
Well there is.

Because its looking increasingly likely that he's another square peg for a round hole and another 'compromise' for Conte to complain about when we take a hammering against Citeh.

Whilst the risk is very low with this deal the reason I believe for the negativity towards this is the clear lack of any plan whatsoever.

Our first XI has significant areas that need addressing yet after 24 days of the window being open our first successful movement appears to be for a backup wing/forward, on a side which we already have 2 players for (Son & Richarlison).
I really don’t see Conte using him a great deal. Less than Richarlison for sure.

So many areas to improve yet all the club seem focused on is low risk bargains.

Been pondering this for a while now (since yesterday afternoon)

On one hand we pursued Luis Diaz last January. Whilst we got kulusevski as an alternative I did wonder if we would still have a go at recruiting a direct running type left sided attacker that has the qualities diaz has. Physically and stylistically there are certainly a lot of similarities with Danjuma and Diaz. So wonder if this is an opportunistic moment to pick up someone for that role.

On the other hand I certainly hope it doesn't come at the cost of signing Conte's first pick but as a standalone player he had an excellent season last season and improves our squad.

zero evidence of that. People are just looking for that all the time.

At least we have a ready made chant for him....

(You know the tune)

He's the reason...
Why we don't have a vision this season...
He did the dirty on Everton and they are seething...
Arnaut Danjuma(cur)!

If that’s the case then why didn’t we go for him at the start of the transfer window, if there is any planning on getting a lwf then surely we wouldn’t wait until he practically signed for Everton. We didn’t just find out about Lucas’s injury or Son’s loss of form yesterday.

Probably because of other deals or possibilities, behind the scenes nonsense etc.. I'm not defending the absolute mess this club is, and we do lack planning, but there are quite a few variables this window with all the conte stuff that makes it more of a reactive one now, the constant push and pull behind the scenes these last few weeks was probably producing a stalemate.

Does anyone know if AC wanted a LW this window?

Rather important to know with what's left on our schedule and attempt at top 4

Clearly a cheap deal to bolster squad numbers, whatever.

My concern is Conte gets pissed off and throws a tantrum, and you know this is something he can easily do.

Lack of planning, foresight and scouting? Yeah but with a reset on the horizon it doesn't matter

Richarlison was sensational for Brazil being played as their central principle striker in the World Cup - good enough for that to be considered his best position, not as a LWF . Danjuma may be viewed as the Son type player to push Sonny for his place in the team, leaving Richarlison as the player to come in for Harry Kane when needed and as his long term replacement. Maybe.

A Danny Rose type signing. Levy’s message to Conte: “Stick it where the sun don’t’ shine. No Zaniolo for you.”
First, he's better than Zaniolo. Second, Dutch international with experience in Premier League and Championship, who was one of the best player in La Liga last season and was playing in UCL seminals definitely isn't Danny Rose type signings. It means that you know nothing about football. Not to mention I bet most of people here wanted us to sign Pau Torres from the same team.

I think we absolutely need legs up front imo. We're stuggling with 2 games a week and barely any rotation up top due to a mix of injuries and Conte perhaps being a bit stubborn.

Having someone quick and aggressive to improve our forward press when he plays, and allows Son to have a breather, could be super helpful.

Every time I watch us play we just seem to have a tired passiveness during the opponents build up.

We still need to get as RWB over the line, backup for Kulusevski and a CB ideally, but this doesn't mean this is a bad idea.
