I'm talking about the financials being talked about in the media. He's a £20 million punt as a squad player because he's home grown at best.
Is he? He's carried more goal threat than Kulu, that's despite him playing for a weaker side.

He was excellent in the Championship, had an OK season last season, despite playing for a very poor forest side.

The forest fans don't want to lose him.

Yes, it is a punt. But no bigger a punt than someone from another league aged 22.

Who's to say Ange can't coach him and is happy with the attributes he has to coach with?

I don't know, just feels like everybody is an expert on here.
One thing I will say is I'm not going to pre judge how any player is going to fit into Ange's way of playing once he's had time with them. Personally I'd rather we swerved this one and I think he's way overpriced for what he's produced, but he does tick a few boxes.

When ever I've watched him he's been, well, meh. When you are getting up to the numbers being talked about your options increase quite dramatically on the continent. He is HG though so that counts for some of it I guess. If we get him then I hope I've got it all wrong, not holding my breath though.

The whole of forest was meh last season.

Some players play better with better players around them. I think he will surprise a few. He also offers something we are lacking up top. Raw pace.

I can't help but think ticking boxes is how Postecoglu works. Rather than demanding this attacking midfielder or that centre back he sees holes to fill and if a player fits his style and does that to benefit the team he ticks the box..

If Vlahovic is available for £50m why would you just not sign him instead?

Juventus are willing to pay Chelsea £35m for Lukaku but the Italians need to bank £50m from the sale of Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic, 23, before they can proceed. (Standard)

Perhaps we should hold an interest in the whole Forrest team then? If at 22 you don't stand out in a team full of 'meh' then why are you worth £40-50million? I mean Gibbs White was managing to stand out.

Because that's the market, its inflated due to other teams paying stupid money, therefore any selling team will over price their players. Also, what 22 year olds stand out in a relegation battling side when the rest of the team is pretty shite too. Only Harry stood out for us last season, and he's world class.

I think they are pulling their numbers out of their arse but I agree with the premise.

It doesn't work that way. We were terrible last season, and Son/kulu/biasouma/Romero didnt stand out. Doesn't make them bad players.

Could the money be better spent? Possibly, but on who?

I understand how the market works mate, but this lad has shown me nothing to warrant that price tag. he's been over hyped because he had a good season in the Championship is young and British. That hype carried through last season without the performances to back it up.

I'm not saying he's WORTH that, its just the market, standout player or not! Plus the young and British tax too. As we got rid of Harry it seems to make sense we need another HG player, specially if Dier isn't registered?

I'm not saying he's a bad player, I'm saying he isn't worth £50million. Kulu cost us half of that after proving he had the ability to do it in the Premier league in his first 6 months. Johnson has thus far proved nothing more than he's a very good championship player.

Are we going for him because of hype, or because our scouts have been watching him for 2 years and feel he is the right profile of player?

This is what Chelsea have done to the market....Caicdeo\Mudryk\Cucurella

No way he's worth even 35\40, let alone 50. Yes he's young, a CF and British, with potential.

if we do get him, no way we are paying those prices considering what we just paid for Madisson.....and the many other young players we've recruited.

What difference to the HG quota's does registering Eric Dier make?

I thought the quota only applied to those registered? Ie if he's not registered then you'd need another HG player? I don't know, talking out my ass most likely ;)
