If they are in real trouble I’d much rather we push for Gibbs White.
I've wanted him since he was in the wolves reserves and they weren't using him. Such a classy player

But with them paying 40 last year and him having a great season I fear he is way out of our budget

No thanks other needs must be prioritised, and I think he's over hyped personally.
He looked a great prospect in the championship, but he wasn’t great last year in the premier league. I’ve watched him a fair bit for Wales, and while he stands out in that team, I don’t think he’s got anything we don’t already have in spades. He’s not going to push, Kulu, Gil, Solomon, Son, or even Perisic for a place in the team. And he’d block the progress of the likes of Devine and Moore.

He’s really not what we need.

Makes sense if we're looking at homegrown options. Could be a good replacement for Gil in the squad. We need to start improving the homegrown 8. Maddison, Skipp, Kane and for now Davies are the only ones good enough to keep. Provided we get more important positions filled first though. Maybe one for later in the window.

I wasn't overly keen until I saw a twitter thread saying how he is very good off the right and uses his pace to break the lines and assist.

With son, Richy, Perisic and Gill all playing from the left I think Solomon is the only competition to Kulu and even he is more a left winger. Some proper competition for Kulu and an option that lets him play as an 8 if needed would be no bad thing.

If Forest are skint then maybe a deal can be done.

I agree that we may be a tad short at RW. I think we have "enough" due to a lack of European matches, but are still an injury away from being in trouble.

I'm a data guy and shared (mostly out of amazement) that Johnson's outputs are some of the worst I've seen for a player that I seem to like on the eye test. I would back him and be willing to see him in Ange's system, but the rumored price really throws me off personally.

I know he is HG but I would much rather get someone like Adama Traore on a short-term deal for cover to prove it over splashing 50+m on a (albeit younger) risk.

£25m guaranteed plus £5m for staying up. Other add ons might never be reached.

Tottenham have lined up Argentina Under 20 striker Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central and want Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson as they prepare for Kane’s departure. They also expect to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven for £43million.

How about a double deal for him and MGW if they are that strapped for cash now?

Sign those 2, the young Argie striker, VDV and Tapsoba and we’d have one hell of a squad for Ange to work with.

His Fbref profile is terrifyingly bad. It’s probably the worst profile I’ve seen for a player we’ve been linked to.

If we are using data analytics then I just don’t see why he’s on the list. It’s horrendous.

He looked decent when I watched him initially but there isn’t enough there to think wow imo and then you look at the data and it’s like a horror movie.

I do think you have to take those stats with a hefty pinch of salt given Forest have the worst possession stats in the top 5 leagues.

For reference, Gibbs-White's stats also look shite on fbref:

Not saying he's worth 50m or anything, but there's a hefty "Forest Tax" going on.

Really hope it’s not him. All that said, I do feel a bit more faith in Ange and our new scouts. Maybe they have a plan. I think he has some potential on the right-wing.

but I think we can do a lot better. If we are desperate to spend 50M on someone who can count as HG either lavia or even Gallagher much better

I think Cherki is worth a look too

I get that, but I've watched him maybe 15 times, he's always looked like a decent player with a lot of potential.

To counter your point, Hojbjergs Fbref profile looks fantastic, yet a lot on here want him gone.

Agreed. Apparently he's upset a few in the dressing room as well.

Where’s that from? he seems like a good kid. I’d be surprised if he caused any problems in the dressing room personally.

Im also surprised a lot of people don’t seem to rate him, although I don’t know how much of that is just jumping on the bandwagon, but he’s definitely got big potential and already a very good young player.

I think we need someone with his attributes, he has the movement and pace to threaten in behind. We lack that easy, top end pace apart from maybe Son who doesn’t have the same kind of movement that Johnson does, he’s more out to in behind the cb. I don’t think he’s quite as good as Martinelli yet, but he plays in a similar way. He stretches teams and makes the pitch bigger and I think he can get to that level.

I think what you've got to think about data based scouting is that the good departments are doing much more complicated stuff than just looking at fbref tables.

The data based stuff which is easily available to the general public is typically going to be a fair way behind the more advanced metrics that clubs like Brighton and Brentford are using.

Spurs also remain interested in Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson and are weighing up a bid that could involve them offering the Midlands club a choice of Djed Spence, Joe Rodon and Bryan Gil as part of any deal.

tbf IF they could do a bit of a part-EX then this wouldn't be terrible.
