Would rather him than Toney that is for sure but not particularly 100% sold on either but certainly see more benefits and upside in Johnson.
He’s only scored 8 Premier League goals. I also don’t think he’s even scored 30 goals in whole professional career.

I don’t want Toney either.

Sure but that was in a seriously struggling Forest side and he’s only 22 but yea his stats at this point are a bit underwhelming in terms of goals and assists for sure, agree.

Not seen it myself but if top coaches like Thomas Franck, Poch and Ange all rate him highly I’m happy to defer to those with better knowledge of his true potential.

I’m going to stick by it. He’s a very good player. I watched him a lot in the championship. He was the standout player in that division. He’s not just pace. Good touch, good link play with those around him, can beat people over short and long distances. Times his runs in behind off the ball well. Even last year 8 goals from wide right for a struggling Forest isn’t bad.

I don’t see how Solomon fits the profile and Johnson doesn’t. People act as though our wingers are always going to be getting the ball up near the byline and they’re going to need a low centre of gravity and quick feet.

The last two games he would have gotten in behind far more than both Kulu and Solomon, there was so much space in behind on the outside of the left full back. We’re not going to be camped out in the oppositions box as much as people envisage just because we’re looking to have more possession.

we’re going to have a lot of games where possession and territory are fairly even, a few games where we have more and a few less and even in games we dominate possession there’s still going to be transitions and breakaway chances. He can still stand people up and beat them over short distances as well. He’s got good acceleration over 5 yards.

If the stats were that much of an issue the clubs would know about it. The clubs that are interested in him appear to be big on stats as well. Maybe they have more advanced ones than the basic ones we get hold of.

Solomon is a lot more explosive off the mark (in those first few yards) and has far superior close control dribbling and agility compared to Johnson.

The dribbling isn't just an eye test thing either, it's confirmed by the data.

Don’t think he has more agility or even better acceleration. Lower centre of gravity, nippy and maybe quicker feet in a crowded penalty box is maybe true. Think we should be careful on the whole data thing. Think the idea that a Solomon type winger/wide forward being the only type that will work in our side is completely wrong tbh. we also need players who stretch teams and break the lines off the ball as well holding the width at times.

Everyone seems to be against him but something must be showing up in his data as it's not just us looking at him.

Sounds like it's one of those times you have to trust the scouts and hope they get it right.

Just feel that if we're chucking around the sort of money they want for Johnson , we might aswell go the extra mile and get Eze 🤔

But Johnson plays ST and RW, Eze plays LW & N.o10/8 so completely different profiles, we need a RW & ST, we don’t need another LW/n.o8/10 as good as Eze is.

Also the benefit of Johnson is that he is young and covers both positions as given we don’t have European football, if we did add another top ST & RW we’d really just simply have too many options.

That being said I do think we lack a proper goal scorer and it seems like Obran is more like that than Johnson who is certainly not prolific right now.

Guess we should all get used to this happening then. Lol. Fingers crossed the striker theory pays off.

If we can somehow throw Sanchez/Gil/Spence into the deal then it's a no-brainer IMO.

I’d say it’s the opposite, his data is rubbish but good old school eye test will show his strengths, he has pace, he dribbles well, his movement is good, what isn’t as good is his final product (assist and finishing) but those things can be worked on given he is only 22.

Again I’m not completely sold on him but I can see the thinking behind it.

We desperately need a CF and imo it’s more important than a winger. We are creating chances.

A tricky winger would be lovely but it isn’t as pressing as the CF.

Yea if our end of the window was something like:
Sell : Sanchez or Spence to Forest and pay the difference for Johnson maybe £20mins etc then buy Schurrs and Obran we’d really have pretty much everything we need.

There was some theorising earlier that Johnson would be coming in as a number 9.
