Is his pace deceptive? Seen quite a few videos (I know, I know…) and he doesn’t look “rapid” as most people have said.
Yeah he’s really not as rapid as people are making out in my opinion. He’s definitely quick but the “top speed” stat is not a very useful stat. It’s very circumstantial and I’ve seen players like Eric Dier who in football terms are about as slow as it gets (10,20,30m sprints) near the top in the past. He’s probably top 20% in terms of pace in the PL but he’s not in the special pace bracket of players like Salah, Mudryk, Sterling, Martinelli, Rashford etc in my opinion from what I’ve seen

The “players + cash” confuses me for one reason only. The news from Forest is that they need to sell for FFP and Brennan has been identified as the cash cow so that doesn’t add up for me.

I guess they could be independent deals and they could amortise the players in across 5Y contracts but still seems strange to me

Don't understand, if he's such a clear target why are we opening talks this week....

Rhetorical BTW lol

He looks more of a good athlete to me as in once he gets going he can eat up the ground ahead of him fairly quickly. Not sold on him to be honest as think he isn't the type of wide forward with a sharp change of direction with close control that I'd ideally want in the team.

Interestingly, Ange talked about 'circuit breakers' type players in the last few days....

"In terms of the way we want to play and the football team we want to be, we have to have creative players who can do things through their own imagination and their own ability," Postecoglou told TNT Sports.
"So much of football today is structured that having circuit-breakers in there [is important]. Sometimes that's people with capabilities whether that's speed or power, or it can be people like Madders [Maddison] who maybe see things that others don't. For me having players like that in your team can make you an effective attacking force.

Think nowadays it's so important to have players like that in your team who can 'break' the structure of the oppo. Ideally, would love to have someone on the right who can not only carry the ball forward with purpose when the space is there but also operate in tight areas where a shift of direction coupled with close control causes panic for the oppo.

Saying that if Johnson were to arrive, wouldn't be surprised if he is starting ahead of Deki sooner rather than later. His pace, direct running and ability to carry the ball forward quickly on the outside is more of a fit in the system than Deki imo.

Folks need to separate what they want or would like, to the vision Ange has for his squad build. He knows exactly what he wants, so I'm gonna let it all play out then judge the transfer window at the end of the season giving players time to settle.

Talking to two forest fans last night and said if we pay more than 25m for him we've been mugged. He's quick and can bring the ball forward but poor end results. Didn't start all their games last season.
For me watching him a fair bit it's a bit no from me.

Second fastest in the league last season behind Walker, according to this...

This stat really isn’t a very good insight though, footballers need to be quick over 10-20m where top speed isn’t important. He’s definitely quick but like I’ve said in my post before I’ve seen players like Eric Dier very high up on these lists before and in football terms he’s an absolute snail. Top speed is important on rare occasions, whereas that speed over 10-20m is absolutely essential

Yes, but as usual the headline isn't the true story. Herc has already said £15-20m plus player(s).

Implies that we would pay their value in cash £40m plus guaranteed installments which is nonsense as add ons wouldn't be guaranteed.
I’m pretty sure that wasnt itk but was the type of deal/price he’d personally support.

Could be switching dead contract money for transfer fees. Forest improve their transfer balance, we get wages off the books. As for Johnson, he might kick on and if not we'd sell him at a small loss and still come off better overall. Happens regularly in the NFL.
Problem is of course that he'd occupy a squad space that might be used on a player who would contribute to the cause long-term...

If his hideous miss in the opening minutes of the match vs MU yesterday is anything to go by, his finishing is Sissoko-class. 🙈

I wouldn’t worry we had fans saying Richarlson would suit ange system better than Kane, some fans are stupid.

The biggest worry for me is that most teams fans overrate their players, especially teams lower down in the table. Most Forest fans that I’ve seen think he’s overrated.

We already have numerous better players across the front three positions. We need to upgrade on these, not just add more depth. We should be able to afford a high quality winger/forward/specialist striker with the Kane money. Johnson is not what we need at the moment, especially not for £40-50m

You're assuming (like many) that he can't be improved with good/appropriate coaching.

If he has the unique skill set Agne is after then I'm fine with it.

I also distinctly remember juve fans rejoicing and celebrating selling us kulusevski and bentancur. I hope we get a similar outcome here too ! 🙏
