He’s a bit of non-entity off the ball in and out of possession. And yeah, his decision-making is spotty, but there is stuff to work with. Gonna be a project for Ange.

So much better taking his man on with confidence today. Best game yet for us.

He was brilliant today

I didn't think it at the time but watching those highlights back I got Aaron Lennon vibes a little bit and I mean that in the best way possible (I was a big fan of Lennon) but I think Johnson has better shooting/crossing capabilities.

Was good to just see him really utilising his pace more. He has the tools to be a real threat and asset for us, it's just how much of it we can draw out of him.

Great signing, lots more to come from this lad. Miles better on the right and suits our style of play having a right footer on that side too.

Was so decisive on the right vs on the left, looks much more at home on on that side and was great with porro. Didnt realise during the game that his first half shot also hit the post, really unlucky not to have at least one goal if not two.

When left back faces up to him he easily runs past him on one side and knocks the ball the other side

No left back can catch him

I said to my Spurs WhatsApp group yesterday that he reminds me of Sessegnon. He needs time to settle in and I hope he makes the grade.

Early days and I hope I'm wrong but he reminds me of Sessegnon
How exactly? Because he's timid, or style of play? I don't see it personally.

Him playing well on the right came at just the right time because Kulu was frustrating there. The change seemed to benefit everyone.

Going forward was really good and unlucky not to score. Still would like a bit more effort defensively, but he is improving.
That might be instruction though. The wide attackers tend to stay further forward and not come too deep. I know Kulusevski covers a lot ground but he doesn't actually come that deep to defend. I think he's told to stay forward.

Son was coming back to help out yesterday as does every other winger used in this system.

Imo Johnson just don’t have a good instinct for defending and something we and him need to sort out.

It was the timidness before the Newcastle match. The game yesterday makes my take look so bad it's unreal but I just want to see that anger and aggression

He was very good against Newcastle, unlucky not to have scored as he hit the woodwork twice and I believe one of the reasons in the improvement is the switch to the RW, which seems to suit him better than being on the left. The same goes for Kulu who definitely plays better nearer the middle of the park. I am pleased for both of them and also for Richie who is clearly moving more freely following his surgery and had a great game. It was a superb team performance by every single player.

biggest compliment to him from yesterday's game is Livramento has really stood out recently for Newcastle. Johnson's pace and threat kept him out of the game completely to the point where I wasn't sure he even played.

I think going forwards Kulu needs to play with or understudy for maddison. He is such a good player but this system needs width and pace to stretch the back 4 and constantly cutting infield off the right just closes the space.

Just had a skim through a Forest forum ahead of Friday's game, and one of the users posted something along the lines of "it's a shame they've figured out Johnson is much better on the right prior to our game...", gives me hope that he'll find a home on the right hand side with Deki playing as more of a number 10, and both players can excel in positions which suit their styles more. Not sure what our approach will be with Maddison is back, but it'll be a good problem to have.
