He could have had Gvardiol on toast tonight if he was a bit braver with the ball but he's too soft.

A spell off the bench hopefully incoming will help him.

The answer was Brennan Johnson

Missed this the other day. Shocked by it as on the eye he just looks so weak. But kudos on winning these duels, but he has to do something with the ball when he does. Either take on your man, or make a decisive pass or cross. Doku did more for man shitty in 30minutes than johnson has done for us the previous 70minutes. He is our weakest attacker and by some distance imo. He is the kind of player that needs to be brought on with 20minutes left and run against tired legs to cause chaos, but he needs to work on his output.

I cannot see him getting too many starts once we get all the international's back. Son, Richarlison and Deki will probably be our first choice front line.

Should be a sub towards the end when tired legs appear,
sadly our squad health doesn't make that possible atm.

More to come from him I hope. Maybe he's a bit knackered, been pocketed easily last 2 games. maybe a spell as an impact sub could reignite him.

I like much of what I see but would like him to be braver,
I think that he’d have been moved in more cautiously without all the injuries.

I do think we paid too much for him but that’s not his fault, I’m still fully convinced he’ll come good. 😊

He looks a bit scared or something when he gets the ball or even lack of confidence.

A spell on the bench will do him good.

It's funny when you see him clean out Richarlison but he's not like it at all. Almost like the player Dele was at the end and not early on. Seems a bit of doubt like he isn't sure he's at this level. The Sess mentality.

I've been frustrated but i guess we got to remember hes still young. There's possibly some mental block there too. I remember Bale saying to him in the world cup something like 'I know it's hard but you got to keep running'

Feels as though his head becomes scrambled when he has time on the ball and ends up being caught between two stools with the end result being there's no real conviction in what he ends up deciding to do.

Right now, not too sure what edge he brings to the table. Could be wrong but feel he might be one who needs to work on and raise his all round game because maybe he doesn't necessarily excel in one particular area. Not been overly impressed when he has the ball at feet and has the opportunity to run at people however do feel if he can work on running in behind more and onto the end of things, he could potentially offer a real threat

Still early days and needs time but so far underwhelmed to be honest.

Certainly looking incredibly expensive atm. Not necessarily because he's playing poorly, but because he just isn't the type of forward we need to compliment the others we've got. Seems very much a straight lines player when we really needed someone with poise and creativity.

If he had had Maddison during his bedding in period he would have had better service. Both our wide players are starved of service and feeding on scraps. That needs to improve and hopefully will now Maddison is back.

He needs to improve significantly. Tonight he was weak, didn’t show any bravery on the ball and wouldn’t take on his man again. He needs to work on those things.

That said I do feel sorry for him because he is a limited player. By that I mean his strengths are basically elite pace and making runs but he isn’t very good on the ball. Very rigid, can’t turn on the ball well under pressure, not a great passer or great touch etc. You could see all of that tonight.

That wouldn’t be the end of the world if we had better ball players in the attack but our problem is our entire attack is very limited in possession which is making him look even worse imo.

Put better players with a mix of skills alongside him in attack plus Maddison etc in midfield and I think we will immediately see a better player.

From what I've seen of him, do wonder if overall he is someone who would be better if the focus was on finding him running in behind or on the end of balls whether it is in on goal or in the last quarter of the pitch to play a ball in when he is in behind. With someone like Maddison looking to get him in, could potentially see it work well.

Not been particularly impressed with him on the ball when faced up with defenders. Never feels like there's any real conviction in anything he does in those situations.
