Juve can't afford him no, only way they come in for him is if it's a swap with Bremer.
They aren't totally convinced about him. Probably looking to make a swap and get some money on top from gullible Premier League side.
Last time they delt with us, they had their pants pulled down.

15m for bentancur 🤣

I think he'll have to speed his passing up to impress Ange. He's not a bad passer but sometimes it takes forever. Presumably he'll have more options though if we go with 3 in CM so that should help. Also, I don't think AP will have much time for forwards who stand about with their thumbs up their arses.

Like all players, except Kane, he was very poor last season. When looked at overall the jury is still out on him, he can be immense on his day but we have seen too few of them. Next season is massive for him, if he isn't consistent and remains too rash then we need to move him on.

Everyone should get a clean slate with a new manager who plays completely different football. Imo, the system with only 2 in CM really put our back line under pressure the whole time with free opposition players picking up balls in dangerous areas. He'll also be much better with (hopefully) Tapsoba next to him.

Unpopular opinion.... I'd sell and reinvest. Good defender not great and selfish in terms of injury record.

Cue 100 x disagrees !!

We're already having to rebuild our defence this window. I think it would be a terrible idea to sell our only half decent CB, when the likes of Dier and Sanchez are still here.

I do understand this point of view. He is reckless and a walking yellow card and definitely cares more about playing for his country than he does being ready to play for his club.

Having said that, at the moment we are not in a strong enough position to be selling him, he is our best central defender by a mile. Perhaps if we invest and address the central defensive weaknesses this summer then maybe he can move on in another window should he still show any desire to move on.

Actually that's a point i'd not considered - always felt he seemed composed on the ball and had plenty of time to pick passes (he 'appeared' to be our only defender that opponents didn't rush to close down) but yes, the new boss wouldn't favour that slow build up, but as you suggest having players actually available to pass to will help !

I'm haven't been completely sold on Romero in the two years we've had him, however I believe he's the only CB we have who genuinely has the attributes to be World Class in the future. Easy to forget he's only just turned 25 which is still young for a CB. He might not reach his peak for another 5 years, so we'd be mad to sell him now.

Potentially world class but I wouldn't be surprised if Ange moved him on if his injury record doesn't improve and his rashness brought under more control.

I think you have a point. I think he can develop more but without development he is still our best centre back which is why I would keep him.

I think a lot of fans (myself included) enjoy his front footed defending and general shit housery. I get frustrated at his rashness at times or a seeming lack of learning from this league (would he be the same not having that nastiness in him)? His ability to be available for his country is something that needs resolution as that just fucks me off.

I think he will be seen as important part in Ange's team in that he is comfortable on the ball. I do think he slows the tempo down which is partly on him but also partly the lack of option going forward within midfield - you can see he doesn't want to just pass side to side which I think is the reason for him driving forward with the ball himself. I think the side to side was encouraged by Conte and Mourinho - I don't think that will be the case in this team going forward.

In isolation i can definitely understand it.

But as others have said in the context of what needs to change in our squad if this happened above other priorities itd be crazy.

Should be the 4th/5th CB to be replaced.

This isn’t football manager. We can’t sell 30 players and buy 15.
It would be nice to sell a few though but nobody at the moment seems interested in what we have. I'm not a Romero fan, I think he's overated, inconsistent, reckless and not a team player but there are others like Sanchez, Tanganga and even Dier that need to be moved on before Romero. I would like to know how hard we are working to get rid of players especially as we have all the loan players coming back.

Something tells me without a World Cup in mid-season to distract him he might be fitter and more available.. He's without a doubt our best CB so would be stupid to sell him now before the rest leave.

I can actually see why some people would have this opinion but we have so much business to do I think we certainly should be keeping Romero our best defender by far.

He’s very good on the ball and showed for Argentina in the WC that he fits a possession based back 4 just fine.

Hopefully Ange can coach a bit of his rashness out of him, other than that he’s verging on world class tbh.
