I think Romero will take 4. In Reguilon’s announcement video his face lit up when he saw the no.3 shirt. Think it’s a big deal for a player to get a first XI squad number. Unless there’s another number they want that has sentimental value.

Fair, just saying what an Argentine player would want. Since you mentioned his nationality. The 5 shirt is synonymous with deep lying midfielders for them.

Will always associate 4 with a CB, likewise 5 and 6. Though I can understand 5 for a DM. This could be a thread on its own entirely. I have perceptions of positions/players and numbers they should be in my own mind.

6 could and should be a regista, imo. But I think 4, 5 and 6 can be distributed among central defence and defensive midfield without too many eyelids being batted. 2 and 3 however, is strictly defence only, and little has hurt my eyes more than Dempsey wearing #2. The same goes for anything between 7 and 11, which should not, under any circumstances, be used by a defender.

I am so glad Wolves sold Patricio. Don't have to see a GK wearing 11 again, unless they gave it to their replacement. Annoyed my squad number OCD every time I watched them.

I had no idea about that. Just think keepers should be 1, 12, 13 or any 20+. Again this could be an interesting discussion on its own in general football and to see how others perceive numbers with positions, styles, formations and players.

Sounds like last year was his real breakout season, but regardless I wonder why Juve agreed to such a low fee option to Atalanta? Paratici must've liked him initially to have signed him in the first place, so letting him go for 16 million Euros seems a snip, especially since they signed him for 26 million Euros just the season before.

Just seems highly odd to me. Any idea what happened during that second season on loan at Genoa that caused his value to drop?
