Big loss but our defence was decent in the last 3 games of the season with Sanchez in for him and our run of fixtures is a little easier for the next month, which helps.

Fulham, Wolves, Forest and maybe Leicester (could be back for that one) should be manageable without him. We will, however, miss him for the City and West Ham games which is a shitter.

I said earlier but I dont think hes that big a miss for west ham as people think. One of Romero's big weaknesses is his defending of set pieces, which west ham thrive at.

Sorry but
Romero
Sanchez
Lenglet
Davies
Dier
Tanganga (I guess)

is awful CB depth covering 3 positions considering the fixture congestion we have this season. Chelsea after signing Fofana will have Fofana, Azpi, Thiago Silva, Koulibaly, Chalobah, Reece James, Ampadu and Cucurella for the same spots. That’s superiority in terms of quality and quantity.
It's similar to the depth Inter had when they won Seria A, although in a weaker league. Chelsea are playing with cheat codes, we will never be able to do similar. Even City don't have that depth. We need another CCB though.

Sanchez is a good defender. The difference between him and Romero will mainly be noticeable against teams that press us high as Romero is obviously a lot better on the ball. West Ham don’t press high and yeh as you mention are good from set pieces so Sanchez should be fine. It’s just our overall depth in defensive quality I’m worried about.

They literally have the best defensive depth in the world if they sign Fofana, though. Not sure we'll ever compete with that.

(Also Ampadu is dog dirt)

Honestly when are people going to ask questions about him and his commitment to Spurs? Third muscle injury in 10 months and he is only 24, not a good sign. But he still somehow always manages to turn up for Argentina, that dosen't sit right with me at all. Last season he and Lo Celso went to South America without the clubs consent and missed two games for us. Don't get me wrong wonderful player but spending over 40 million on him when he only turn up for half a season is a massive gamble!

City have Ake Dias Laporte Stones for two spots. That’s pretty good.

I guess you’ve missed him diving into challenges and leaving us exposed on numerous occasions?

I guess you’ve missed him defending corners, which he’s not great at

He’s good and hopefully will get even better. Cannot tie Ledley Kings shoe laces yet!

He’s the best defender we have currently (haven’t seen enough of Peresic yet) and I love his proactive style but he’s got loads to work on

World Class is banded around far too often!
Perisic is not a defender by trade.

He does seem quite injury prone.

It’s a huge blow really, not least because of his ball playing ability.

I said a week or so ago we really needed another CB and this shows why. Injuries happen, but when you play 3 at the back and are in the CL you need proper depth and not just numbers.

I don’t really trust Sanchez or Tangana in the tougher games and the CL.

I’ve been concerned about this lately. We drop massively in quality when Sanchez replaces him for an extended period of time. Could really do with being aggressive in the market and securing a decent CB

Pretty sure this'll be the trigger in which we go all out as much as we can on a brilliant CB. Wouldn't be surprised if Zaniolo/AM talks are cancelled now for the foreseeable future. This has now become an urgent matter.

It's a bummer, probably one of our most important players.

We'll be fine, no need to cancel our season or anything.

Ffs.

If only we had Tanganga out on loan in stead of Rodon. He will come in good for Romero. Rate Rodon more than Tanganga..

I reckon he’ll be back for the city game. It’s 4 weeks away from the time he picked up the injury in the chelsea game so not unrealistic to say given he’s been quoted as being out for around 3-4 weeks.

So only likely to miss:

Wolves (h)
Forest (a)
West Ham (a)
Fulham (h)
First UCL game

Not the end of the world.
