Man just oozes class and confidence. What kind of CB does a nutmeg like that, let alone in that area of the pitch?

He absolutely loves his craft. Born defender.

You missed out the part where he threatened to slice Fabregas’ throat as he was being subbed off!

Ah man, this match. I know that match kind of cost us the title but Leicester would’ve been 5 points ahead with 2 games left even if we’d won. For that reason, I can safely say this is my favourite Spurs match where we didn’t win. And tbh it’s pretty high up amongst the ones we won too.

I think he may be our most important player. He's that good.

Kane and Bentancur still take the top two positions for me but when you look at the drop off in quality in our defending when he's not playing (eg - Leicester a couple of weeks ago) then maybe you have a point.

I remember when a young, inconsistent Ledley King was paired up with Nourredine Naybet, who was an experienced head that had won La Liga and had good Champions League runs in his career - the only played together for one season but it immediately had a huge impact and King then became one of the best defenders in the country. I reckon Cuti could do with playing alongside another experienced head for a year or two - the heavy challenges and defending on the front foot are what makes him great, but he needs to get consistent with knowing when to do it and when to sit back.

Wish we'd held onto Jan or Toby a little longer to play alongside him.

Also our medical team would care more about the injury getting worse if played too soon. Argentina wouldn’t really care about that risk

fair but he still featured when told it was impossible.

How many players could we have had back a tad earlier and we suffered because it was prolonged?

Mourinho and now Conte have both taken swipes.
There might be a possibility to upgrade the medical team but it just feels impossible for us to try to evaluate. Here is clearly a conflict of interest between national teams and club teams just as it was when Kulusevski stayed on with an injury for his national team and ended up missing weeks for us.

Both Mourinho and Conte are also masters in deflecting from themselves. Mourinho disgraced himself with the former doctor at Chelsea and Conte has recently not followed his own doctors advice which has prolonged his ability to return back to work.

Conversely, how many times have our managers rushed back players and/or overplayed them against the advice of the medical team, leading them to get long turn injuries?

Can spin this narrative whichever way you want to.

I will add this - its concerning if the players, rightly or wrongly, don't trust the team medical staff.

That could lead to players not following medical/fitness advice - which then exacerbates injuries, which then gets blamed on the medical staff...

The word impossible lacks context in this situation as we don't know how it was said, they might have meant impossible to play to anything resembling his normal standards, which was by the sounds of it was evidenced by the fact he was dropped the next game.

As said, we don’t actually know the contexts / he could actually be saying that the Spurs medical team called it right
